How narrow-minded are you, really? Philip is simply asking the host if he wants to play guitar – or not. Philip isn't extending an invitation. But someone else might invite him to this party, and that won't happen until EP12.
You really need to learn how to read better, not just in the game but also in this conversation.
First of all, if you're asked to perform, that
is an invitation because it's an invitation to
perform. You do not get an invitation from him otherwise because this event is a private gathering for faculty and select special guests of which the MC would not be
universally. So if you choose the fighting tournament, he's not showing up to the faculty event because he wouldn't be let in
universally.
However, if you chose to not do the fighting tournament and either chose not to perform or didn't get the invite but are on the Jill, Bella, or Sage paths. then you probably will go to the faculty event as their guest, a point I made
to you already.
Maybe if you're on the Jill, Sage, or Bella paths he'll be there as a guest, but if you chose the fighting tournament he'll be there all day as he said.
Basically, there's probably several different ways this can go, but universally you won't be able to be at both.
- Chose fight tournament, you'll be there
- Chose faculty recital, you'll be there
- Chose neither and aren't on Jill, Bella, or Sage path, you go watch the tournament
- Chose neither and are on Jill, Bella, or Sage path, you go to the faculty recital as their invited guest
Jill, Sage, and Bella are the only ones who likely would because, again, Maya and Josy are not likely to be there universally since they're not likely to be considered as part of the "esteemed guests" Philip mentioned who he said would provide an "excellent opportunity to network" which means those who are not faculty and the performers will be influential people, business owners and such. Sage might be there only by virtue of her family being faculty and maybe Rusty could be there too with his parents since they're Burgmeisters, but that's probably it.

Yeah I'm aware of that. The suggestion that you get invited as someone's +1 is basically just the fallback for if DPC doesn't feel like coming up with a third event for people who say no to both. It seems more likely than going to spectate the fighting tournament to me.
In a scenario where you chose not to fight or do the performance and you're on the Jill, Bella, or Sage paths then you'll probably be going to the faculty event by default, and if you're not on their paths then you'll probably go watch the fight tournament because you'd only get an invite if you're on any of those paths since they'll be there.
But if you chose to fight or chose the faculty event, you'll be going there and staying there, for sure. And if you're on a Jill path where you helped her at the recital but chose the fight tournament, maybe that causes some issues with her that you chose this over performing with her.
Another point on MC getting invited only if he helps Jill with her recital: If MC does NOT help her Jill will chicken out and won't perform the recital so she won't be invited to perform for the faculty either. On Jill's path helping her is forced so she will perform for the faculty, but MC can choose the tournament instead.
That's honestly another great point, that Jill will not be performing if she failed the recital. But, I suspect that will be dealt with by having Geoff and Amelia attend as esteemed guests and so Jill will come along with them, and if you're on Jill's path then you'll be there too, otherwise you won't be.
The point is that where the girls are on Dec 29th might have other options too.
Now that we've had that preview of Sage and Jill at the faculty event, we can safely say they will be there but it could still be varied. For example:
- Sage path + faculty performance invite = She will be there
- Non-Sage path + faculty performance invite = She will be there
- Sage path + fight tournament = She will be there
- Non-Sage path + fight tournament = She will be there
- Sage path + no faculty performance invite or fight tournament = She will be at the faculty event and bring MC
- Non-Sage path + no faculty performance or fight tournament = She will be at the faculty event, MC at the fight tournament
As for the other girls:
- Jill/Bella path + faculty performance invite = They will be there
- Non-Jill/Bella path + faculty performance invite = They will be there
- Jill/Bella path + fight tournament = They will be at the faculty event
- Non-Jill/Bella path + fight tournament = They will be at the faculty event
- Jill/Bella path + no faculty performance invite or fight tournament = They will be at the faculty event and bring MC
- Non-Jill/Bella path + no faculty performance or fight tournament = They will be at the faculty event, MC at the fight tournament
- MJ path + faculty performance invite = They could be there as his guests
- Non-MJ path + faculty performance invite = They will not be there
- MJ path + fight tournament = They will be there
- Non-MJ path + fight tournament = They could be there
