There is no "canon" from in-game point of view.
If you do choose for Fuckface to have history with Josy, then her history is of no different quality than the one MC has with Zoey. And as such, should trigger Sage just the same. Except it mysteriously doesn't.

There is, and there even a status about it in the phone. Even if you don't fuck anyone in the entire Game. MC still Fucked Zoey - "almost Virgin" -
so by default MC history is different with Zoey than with any other character in the game.

Can you tell Maya that you love her? When does that happen? I seemed to have missed it.

It works the same way it does with Josy -- depending on which of them MC spend more time, he'll get an outing with either Josy or Maya. If he hasn't looked at too many of other girls' asses, he gets option to tell Maya/Josy that he loves her, and if he's got enough relationship points with her, she'll reciprocate. Or keep silent if their relationship isn't high enough.

Can this game be played without the mini-games? I used to love this game, but then hit a wall with the mansion mini-game...I didn't like most of these mini-games, and the mansion mini-game was a bridge too far. I'm thinking of restarting with a new playthrough, if I can cut through all of this.

You need to restart from s1 or use mod to disable.

You misunderstood my point. There is no canon as far as characters and their mind processes are concerned. Sage doesn't know there's such thing as "story canon" that makes Zoey a guaranteed girlfriend but Josy an optional one. From Sage's point of view an ex is an ex, and they're equally exes the MC in that particular playthrough has equally valid pasts with.

To try again: if you chose to make Josy MC's girlfriend then she is MC's ex-gf and should trigger the same sort of insecurity that any other ex-gf of MC does.
