For a very simple reason: Sage apparently doesn't have even a single close friend who was her actual friend for more than a couple of years, nevermind one she'd have spent half of her childhood/teenage years with. She is unable to put herself into Fuckface's shoes here because she utterly lacks the needed frame of reference.
So she really doesn't understand what Zoey is to MC and how he feels about her. Because she doesn't know first thing about this sort of relationship.

Since this discussion is still going on, I find it curious one's deviant score (the TC points) is completely unrelated to returning to Zoey or not. There's only one affiliated with her, and it's very minor, so what's up with that? A mechanic dedicated solely to cheating/unfaithful behavior, but the option to return is predicated solely on your zscore, a totally separate thing.
Maybe Zoey will be the only girl we can actually leave someone for, everyone else is relegated to mere affairs/flings?

So, she understands just fine. He's going to see his ex, that he had sex with, that he said was his first love, when it seriously bothers her. It doesn't matter if they were friends, it doesn't matter if they won the big game together and it doesn't matter what other excuse he can come up with to make it ok. It's not ok. It's rude, disrespectful, hurtful and selfish. If you wanna do whatever you want and ignore your partners feelings then don't be in a relationship.
