All we know in terms of game Lore is that Stephen tells his therapist that "This was also around the time we found out my wife barren" so all we have so far to know shes infertile is a conversation Stephen had with his therapist. It's unlikely that they didn't have tests given it goes onto mention Jades desire to be a mother. But we don't know if either of them actually took tests to determine fertility and its not just a case of Stephen saying "well Im not firing blanks the problems clearly yours" its a very merky area...
