Not if they want to keep her death a secret. Which they can actually do. From Lynette's friends point of view she ran away with a guy and was never heard from again.

I don't think they would, at least not from their close friends. He hated Neil, but he still loved Lynette. Also Miranda and Vivian would try (and certainly would) find out the truth, because they know she would never skip town without telling them and even if she would, she would at least get in contact again after arriving where she and Neil would want to go. Viv might look like an airhead in the few scenes we saw her in, but Miranda seems to be quite intelligent.
Also it's difficult to keep such a secret hidden from influential families over a large amount of time. If they want to, they have the means to find out the truth if the have the time for it.

If they had such close friends that they would confide in them, those friends would in turn be close enough to keep their secret. Miranda and Vivian might make a great attempt at finding Lynette, but why would they look for a death certificate or a tombstone? Why would they suspect that she died? Would they actually go to the police about her disappearance or hire a private investigator? More than likely they never suspected that anything tragic had happened and Lynette had just left them behind. They were sad and angry about it, but rather than going to look for and confront her their reaction was: "Fine! See if I care!" And after a time they no longer did.

They might not suspect she died, but I'm pretty sure they would find the situation suspicious and wouldn't believe Lynette's family if they would say she just eloped.
Having no clue what really has happend, they would've probably hired a P.I. that they would be pretty sure of that he/she wouldn't tell Lynette's family about it, so at least someone from another city if not another county. That P.I. would find out the truth and tell Miranda and Viv about it.
There can only be 2 explanations for the backpack, 3 if you really go far out on a limb...

Bella might also be worried, if she had a miscarriage with James (if that happens to be true), or because of the implications it might give thanks to her being an employee at B&R and also officially still married with James.

Josy has said she wants one, Jill would probably, Maya might have worries, Sage probably, Bella might be touchy subject especially if she ready did lose a baby already

You did just make me consider someting though.
I wonder if the epilogues would include something like pregnancy and after they were born. Basically I wonder how far in the future we will actually see.

Once their relationship has progressed enough, which is closer and closer to happening, I'm sure she'll be open (and eventually even happy) about having a baby with MC.
I'd say there's a high chance of that. At least having kids will be the minimum of future viewing.

Sage most likely, there wasn't a Sage shaped hole In the wall when MC mentioned kids toys In ep 11 and having a real family Is important to her. Maya second most likely, though her mothers condition Is obviously a concern for her. I do think the other MG's will want kids but Bella may have some demon's to work out first and I don't see a reason Jill wouldn't at some point, probably a few years down the line when they're both out of college.

It'll happen within the next semester. She's already at a point where she's willingly putting her job in jeopardy because she doesn't want to give MC up, storywise it won't take much longer for real future talk to happen.

Near future and aside from nora?
- Sage: We already discussed with her if you selected that you imagine her and having children.
- Maya: Kinda discussed it when talking about her situation and her wanting to get married maybe have children.
- Josy: She admitted she wanted children, but not now unless it was sudden, then she doesn't mind.
- Nicole: Already has a child but is extremely smitten with you and might hint at having one with you.
Bella and Jill, I am not sure because they haven't made any insinuations about wanting children. MAYBE there is argument that bella did when you mentioned to her that she is not jill's mom.
Side girls....... just nora/nicole. Everyone else kind of want to live in the moment.

You believe their friendship is that strong, but also too weak to help her son? Zero chance.
But there is a third option. MC's grandparents didn't hush up Lynette's death, but they lied and said her baby died too. Why would any of them go looking for Neil? Bella might have noticed that MC's birthday is the same day Lynette died, but it might not have made her suspicious if she believed Lynette's baby died with her. Especially if she never learned Neil's last name. And if Bella did figure it out it would be after MC's birthday and all earlier behaviour needs no explanation. However, it would mean that guilt over Lynette can't be the reason for her crying in the library scene.
