We don't know the exact date of the first week of B&R fall semester so we can't say for sure when MC's birthday is other than it being in the third week of school. We also can't work backwards from Halloween because of the time skips. I remember counting that in a year with Nov 1st on a Sunday MC's birthday being Thursday Sep 10th was a possibility but right now I'm not sure if his birthday definitely was on Thursday.

You could avoid the first fight and the main reason we're in this fight club is because Caleb hassled him at the gym and Dwyane wanted to teach the MC to defend himself. What better place to show off how much he's learned than this fight tournament and in front of his mentor? Doing it in front of people publically would be the ultimate win. But also, given that fighting him was optional before, it being optional here again makes sense since it's another "lover or fighter" type choice. It also doesn't preclude there being another fight with him later universally, it would just have some different dialogue given how things went at the tournament and whether you participated or not.

Actually, I wish you were right. It would be great to participate in both events. But simple logic dictates that if DPC wanted to give players this option, he would simply hold these events on different days, and the player wouldn't have to make a choice in Episode 11.

In Ep 11, there are 2 variables for this choice:
Whichever one you choose gets set to 1 and this is the event you will do because you CANNOT have both set to 1. You can, however, have both set to 0 because you can turn down the fight tournament and either didn't get invited to perform at the faculty event or turned it down. This means we will likely have the following scenarios:
- ep11_music
- ep11_fighter
Therefore, this will not be some big freeroam for both events because you cannot do both. It's 1000x more likely that they are just normal events you will click through without any freeroams elements whatsoever. The fight tournament though will be using the Brawler mechanics which will break up the event a bit, but that's it. The 26 character event DPC mentioned is likely to be the faculty event and he also never said this was a freeroam, and the 87 character event is 100% the NYE party freeroam event which will be indoors and so Maya will be wearing her winning outfit to this.

It's the Maya/Josy principle being applied here; he could easily have us do things with both girls on different days but we can't because he makes it so we can't. The faculty event and fight tournament are now this; 2 events happening simultaneously and you can't do both.
Yes, he invited him to watch because he's not participating and this is before he was potentially invited to the faculty event. He could perhaps go there for a bit before going to the faculty event if he's going there either to perform of because he was invited by Sage, or Jill, or Bella on their paths respectively. But he WILL NOT participate in the fight tournament and perform at the faculty event and he WILL NOT go to the faculty without having been invited to it. That much should be abundantly clear by now.

This line wasn't specific to New Year's though and it wasn't in reference to only having a small party for NYE. The preceding lines were as follows:

The weightlifting competition is in the spring which means probably sometime between March and May. This tournament is happening in December so there's no danger in participating now, they won't want to do it nearer the time. They clearly also do fighting as well as weightlifting, Dawe and Alex at least, and we've seen Jimmy with them in the boxing area as well as Caleb hitting the bag. So I think it's pretty certain they'll be in this.
