I will reply to this, not cause you wrote it, i saw this so often now, but never talked about it...

I for one think most people doesnt really understand this "throuple" and its dynamics.

First of all, everybody needs to understand that Josy and Maya love each other very deep. They dont want to lose each other, no matter what... yeah they have a big issues in the realtionship during the time we are witnessing, but its easy to see that they love each other very much... i mean, Josy came right through the door, the shit hits the fan and just some minutes later, they both are getting together again.

So, if you decide to go just for one girl mainly, and kinda left the other out... the throuple will start cause neither of the girls want to lose the other.

In my case i mainly picked Josy over Maya in most playthroughs, so Maya kinda "rolls" with it to test things out but mainly to stay with Josy. The problems with the HOTs and Mayas Dad are just "hickups" nothing that really can be dangerous for the realtionship between Maya and Josy i think... The only thing that is dangerous for this relationship, is the MC himself. Cause he can make one girl fall deep in love with him, while the other isnt. If youre not in a equal realtionship with them.

So i think... if you "mistread" one of the girls, she choosed to go in the throuple just to not loose the other girl, thats it... in the dilaogue in the dik-house in episode 4, where you can start the throuple, the whole dialogue is about "not losing the other" thats the motivation for Maya or Josy to go in the throuple when not both of them are falling for the MC.

Of course, in the long run this will not work out... its very clear, if you dont want to stay in the throuple and dont treat both of them equaliy, there will be a point where one girl will leave the throuple heartbroken, no doubt about it.

but for now, if you go only for Josy only for example... Maya joins the throuple just to stay close to Josy, maybe with an option to get closer to the MC, but the main reason is just... she doesnt want to lose Josy and the other way around the same.

I partially agree, but I don't think it's about fear per se. IMHO the throuple is something of a desperation ploy to keep each leg of the triangle together because none of the other options will work.

As we saw in in Season 1 (and again in Episode7) Maya and Josy do love each other, but they react very differently to adversity; worse, those differences can easily exacerbate the the stress they feel, driving them even further apart. Meanwhile each of the girls has very strong feelings for the MC, and from what we've seen his approach to adversity is a bit more compatible with theirs... unless of course their relationship itself is the cause of said adversity.

This leads to a dilemma, at least when the MC isn't willing to friendzone the girls. Without him their existing relationship is fragile. But the relationship between the MC and each of the girls is strong enough that it could overwhelm their own relationship if circumstances prevent them from being together. By the same token, it's unlikely the MC could spend a lot of time supporting the girls without forming some sort of close bond with one or both of them of them. (I expect this will eventually happen if the MC isn't on their path but still has feelings for one of the girls.)

Hence the throuple. It's not about group sex opportunities, it's an attempt to balance the needs of all three against each other. That's the reason they want to take it slow, to figure out how to make each individual relationship work without overstressing the other two. It's not clear if that's possible, especially when they need to keep the whole thing secret, but they know none of the other options will work so they are committed to trying this.

Granted, this doesn't make a lot of sense if the MC tries for something more and they reject him (he should cut ties with them completely on that case), but that's been a longstanding complaint for ages. It's also unclear how the MC can just walk away from the throuple at the crossroads, but DPC ducked out of showing us that so far.

An important note about this game is (unless you install a mod) you can't get all the girls in one play through. You're not meant to. At one point in the game, if you've been stringing along a bunch of girls, you actually have to decide which one you'd like to be with, and break it off with the others, or you can even break it off with all of them.

Whilst anyone with the harem mentality will be frustrated by this, it does open the game up for multiple playthroughs with multiple playing styles.

After the first play through you've already kinda got the impression from all the girls, and it isn't too hard to work out how to chase one girl or another. It's pretty clear Maya or Jill wouldn't go for an asshole kinda character, and since Josy's lumped in with Maya, she doesn't get a say (story of Josy's life), Bella and Sage are a lot easier.

The only problem is it's a very long game by now (I don't know exactly how long a full playthrough without getting bogged down in pixel hunts and render searches would take), and I get that not everyone is thrilled with the idea of playing the game all over again.

But given there's roughly 5-6 months between episodes, there's plenty of time to sneak another playthrough in before a new episode comes along.

In my experience, forced branching only adds to replay value if the individual branches flow naturally from the story and each branch plays out very differently from the others. Otherwise all it does is encourage players to skip a lot of the less interesting (to them) content. Or worse, it feels like an artificial constraint purely to lengthen game time.

BaDIK hasn't done a great job with this so far. Some of the paths worked well, but for the most part the game played out the same way if you opted out of scenes or not. And I'm sure I've ranted about how forced the crossroads was to make my feelings clear on that. But Season 3 is when we should get the real payoff to this branching, so we'll have to see how DPC handles it going forward.

Sarah and Melanie have a game going on. They want to find out if the MC is faithful or not.

Why doesn't Sarah want to have a boyfriend? Because she doesn't want to get hurt and because they aren't usually faithful. Sarah is standing in the room where Josy and Maya are standing or later stood. When the MC goes to the bathroom with Sarah, she takes a dick picture of the MC. She proves that the MC is not faithful to Josy and Maya and Sarah wins the game against Melanie.

Melanie stands in the room where Elena, JB and later Josy are. Melanie believes in love. You can see that in the way she helps Chad and Troy. But I think that's how Melanie distinguishes between love and sex. When the MC fucks her, there's nothing to suggest she's going to give it away. But she enjoys it because the MC is a good sex partner. In Josy/Maya Hangout from EP5, the MC can draw a heart or a dick on Josy's shoulder. I guess the big parties of EP7 and EP8 will finally decide how Josy and Maya will develop in the solo routes or on the throuple route.

EP7: Josy got 4 messages the day after Patrick showed up at the dorm: from Heather, Camila, Arieth and Elena. These girls have their own roles at EP7's HOTs party that have to do with Josy's development.

Heather: She's a bit frigid, proud, bubbly and faithful when Tommy is faithful too. She has no problem with cheating if it's arranged beforehand.

Sarah then goes to her room to warn Chad. Chad and Alex leave, leaving only Melanie and Sarah to play their game at the EP8 dorm party later. But more importantly, the MC finds the key. And why? The movie Maya and the MC watch on their phones in EP2 is titled "The Secret in his Closet." What do we see in HOT's closet? There is a tent at the top. This guarantees that the MC will get Josy and Maya from the flashback of EP4. Patrick has a key to Maya's dorm room, and at EP8's dorm party, there is a giant asskey hanging on the wall in the room where Sarah, Josy, and Maya are. The MC wakes up after this party with Derek. I don't want to know what happened to the MC when he went to the bathroom with Sarah.
