Don't worry it didn't come over as negative at all. It's an issue I had been aware of and something I have planned to fix. I used a third party pre-defined animation for that scene and it's something like 450 frames in length ! When you bear in mind that the whole of Chapter 3 is 650 or something renders in size, that's a massive amount of render for my 4080 super to handle. So I reduced the resolution and limited the number of iterations, it still took somewhere between 2 days with the rig on all the time to render out the thing. I have since found a better workflow to generate animations, which I implement in chapter 4, I do them fully manually now and generate them in blender from still images. They may not be as involved as this animation is but they are way easier for me to manage and do not lock up my rendering rig for days, which obviously slows down my other progress. It's all good, it wasn't my intention to sound negative so sorry if that was the case. To be honest the animation itself was a pleasant surprise, as I wasn't expecting to see an animation at all. As for how it looked, it was maybe not of the best visual quality, but I get that you're learning as you go along so it's totally fine. I would have been fine if there had been a few static renders and no animation yet, it's not necessary IMO, but kudos to you for getting it done. And reading that you aim to improve the animations is great.
This could also be because as you say, at this point I'm more intrigued by the story than anything else. Sure I'm interested to see spicy scenes in the future, but the unfolding story is what will keep me coming back at this point. In my opinion you are doing a great job so far, and I'm eager to see where this will lead to. And a very positive thing, I think, is that you said you have the story completed, or at least the broad strokes, as I find that leads to very little chance of the game meandering aimlessly toward the end.
Keep up the good work and best of luck with the ongoing development, cheers!
Really appreciate the positive feedback and so happy that you are clearly enjoying the story, it's been a labour of love for me over the past year or so. I've learned a bunch of new skills developing it and it's been an important tool for me to manage my mental health as I go through some struggles in real life right now, developing it is an escape for me that I've needed. I am so very pleased to see others appreciate the efforts, the positive feedback I have received has helped me enormously
