Contrary to what is being presented in those other threads, it's not just a Visa/MC issue. Both France and the UK just enacted national age verification laws that specifically target "pornography". As of now, it's not problematic, but could be soon. Germany did it several years ago, and now we can't sell our games in Germany without a rating from the government, and they won't do that rating if you show anything explicit.

So, why does this matter? Well, the UK and France are literally the number 2 and 3 markets. Losing access to those would cut revenue by about 25%. Imagine taking a 25% pay cut. I can tell you, making this is NOT cheap. I am NOT getting rich from this. And I'll be hiring an actual employee next year to help me, which means even more expenses.

Again, my thought process is more along the lines of "Make both versions". Instead of doing D&D for $9.99, it goes for $8.99 with the less explicit version with the option to unlock the explicit version for 99 cents more. Ends up being the original price, and still VERY affordable. You don't LOSE any content in the less explicit version. It's just different camera angles :p
This sounds like a very reasonable compromise to me in light of the current situation, so long as it doesn't greatly increase your workload.

Question for those of you who are fans enough to keep up to date on the thread. As I go into the planning stages for D&D, I'm considering the following things regarding sexual content:

1) There would be no direct visibility of genitalia (breasts don't count)
2) There would be no direct visibility of actual penetration

Sex would still happen like normal, but there wouldn't be any of the more graphic visualizations. Hell, you might have noticed a significant decline in those kinds of visualizations as BTW moved forward, as I did them less often in favor of more romantic results.

How might such a change impact your opinion of things?
I don't play to fap, but I do like seeing the sex. It gives the games I play more realism. When the game stops offering it, I usually drift away from the game. I'm way behind on this, still back when we took that shortstack with us. So, the truth is, if the game later stops with actual sex scenes, I'll more than likely never finish it. I'm old and even if I don't fap to things, I still want to see it. Just my 2cents.

it shouldn't too much, just slightly different camera angles that don't show the goods. It's still some extra work though to set that all up, but only involves the lewd scenes so it's a viable alternative.

I assumed that would be the case, but I also don't know what would be involved in getting both a game and DLC approved for Steam.

I believe if you do both versions it would be good, but if the situation continues to deteriorate and there are more restrictions for porn in Steam, Wouldn't you face the same problem when you try to sell the explicit DLC?

I suppose it works is if the DLC can be banned separately from the main game in the places that content is not allowed ...

Fantastic! It was a slow start, but after it reached its stride it was a fun adventure. It would be interesting to see if our hero ever made any moves on his mother-in-law as he threatened Hannah. I look forward to the next in the series. I loved the wedding cameos from "Love of Magic".

If making the more explicit version a patch or dlc of some kind can help keep your game from being banned due to the recent crackdowns on adult content it'd be worth doing.

Extremely disappointed that it's even an issue you have to seriously consider. Kind of ridiculous really. But you do what you've gotta do because I really enjoyed this game and am looking forward to the next.

So something like what the did on that game House Party, where where all nudity and sex scenes are blurred/weird camera angles/black screens unless you purchase and enable a optional explicit DLC?
