The Short Answer
Well Part 1 is Patreon shut the game down because of Incest. So DS had to find something to charge $40 for

Part 2 is that Dark Silver and his Team got Board with making this game and since he can't get paid what he want's to get paid for making it he stopped making it.

If anyone wants's him to make it again the simple way would be to drop your pledges and when you cancel it put in the reason box I paid for Big Brother

The reason 2 I even try to "understand" (money speaking louder, I'm not too surprised ) but the reason 1...

I know of this ban on Patreon for this type of content, but like so many games I follow, DEV could simply change some phrases and names in the game, is what many of the games they had as part of the incest content are doing, we know that the game has incest, just like Patreon himself know it, but, if there doesn't have anything in the game that proves it, they can't and they have no reason to cancel it. Mod's can easily fix the original phrases and names for our entertainment to be complete penedeyewink:

Now talking about the posts that came up after you answered me, if the DS really didn't want to continue the game to follow incest, he actually did very badly by lying to the Patreons and FreeFans about being the best incest game, so, what I understood from the comments, he wanted to make a game for voyeurism, which can please a group but not enough to earn him money, for that reason I have to agree with what armion82 said, he lied to both groups. (making it clear that I met the game now, I am reading the comments and still forming my opinion, I can not say 100% what is true or what is not about the Dark Silver.)

Dark Silver had already expressed in the past that this game wasn't something he particularly enjoyed as a fetish/theme.
The remake of Glamour was announced as being the next/concurrent project before Patreon's crackdown on incest games turned to Big Brother like it had others before and since.

As to "buying the rights to the game"... Dark Silver had full control, but completely mishandled it, with the only reason given that development had to stop, was Patreon not allowing the game in any way, shape or form, to be connected to Patreon via Dark Silver's Patreon account, to the point of threatening an account ban.

Dark Silver can, at any time, choose to resume development, but realistically that's not going to happen any time soon... or probably ever.
Of course, that doesn't prevent someone doing their own adaption of Big Brother, hopefully not letting fans dictate the course of development.

Paypal pushed Patreon into cracking down across the board on many fetishes/themes that are, let's say, frowned upon... Because image and association.
Assuming you mean SJW (Social Justice Warrior), I sincerely doubt they give two shits about incest themed porn games. Nothing to do with pushing a socialist/communist agenda.
Although I wouldn't be surprised if they formed the higher proportion of the game's Patrons... Got to do something weird to cope with all that misplaced self-righteousness bubbling out of their arses.

I'm going to sound like an arsehole here, but any modders who do actually continue the game should be very few of them. The mods haven't exactly been of the best quality.
In fact, the majority of them have been pretty poor in quality, and include renders that are pretty horrible too, and really don't work as part of the game.
A few work as a nice expansion to concepts within the game, particularly those that aren't Max just fucking his family or ones that change character personalities in drastic ways. Saying that, it's still a pretty jarring turn around that Kate of all people was so easily "turned" to being amenable to Max's dick and creampies.

Imho, they'd be better off trying to start fresh from the ground up. Either with a "Patreon friendly" project that gets "modded back" to be an incest themed game, or a non-Patreon funded project that doesn't have to adhere to the restrictions.

Ds early on said he did not like writing incest. I believe he admitted that bondage was more his thing. Game reflects it. I was concerned as soon as Eric was introduced
It seemed like DS was less engaged after Eric was so poorly recieved.

I wonder if a work around patreon something like. You download the cg via patreon and he sends a gamelink would of worked. Patreon would of had some coverage as it would be harder to prove he was selling incest games. DS could of claimed they were seperate and his game was advertising skills for future games or perhaps just an extra. Not sure if patreon really cares or if this is pressure from paypal. So such an idea might work, at least for a time. Such fictions keep attorneys employed.
