As a writer, I think Mom/Ann's biggest malfunction is her traumatic experience when she was younger -- I'm referring to Kira's revelation. I am not spoiling it, but it explains a lot about the perverted spankings, and Mom/Ann's attraction to twisted alpha males like Eric (ugh). I hope DarkSilver is going to resolve it through Lisa's sex-ed, because I honestly think Lisa reminds Mom/Ann of her unspoiled self, before that traumatic experience she went through in the past. That's why any story developments revolving around Lisa and Mom/Ann is interesting to me (I know, I know, if this went on in real life, it'll be considered psychological neuroses, but hey, this is a sexual fantasy we're talking about here). I am really, really looking forward to it.

I have great reasons to be optimistic, because I love how DS broke Alice out of her submissive self to Kate by being a dominant older sister to Max and Lisa -- I applaud DS for making this choice, because even though incest among siblings is neurotic, having an overbearing authoritative eldest sister is somewhat normal (I have one, ugh, so like a tyrant at times).

If the story of Alice is any indication, DS is going to continue developing these characters -- interesting storylines that addresses their problems bit by bit, and eventually makes them better people (still twisted, but better) in the end (I also honestly want to see how Max evolves beyond being a horny perverted moronic kid, that's where Olivia and Vicky comes in, but I'm not sure, haven't played those storylines yet).

I think you're giving DS way too much credit. The Ann and Lisa sex ed thing exists only so DS can delay either of them actually having sex with Max. If Ann does actually see Lisa as that younger version of herself, then she should be fighting to preserve that innocence as she has in the past, and not coming full circle in her life and turning into the abuser. Yes, Lisa is hardly a victim here. But Ann does not know that.

The Alice storyline has been pretty heavily botched. She started off as anything but submissive, then her personality took a left turn with Kate before suddenly veering so far right that she's in danger of going off the road. I assume it's going to veer back left again. This isn't courageous driving on DS's part. It's that he can't drive. He should have made Alice consistent from the start, and had any growth or change in personality be because of the actions of the player rather than, like everything else, having it just happen because of another NPC.

There isn't any great character development going on here. The characters are all two-dimensional. Just like with the story, we see voids in the characters, and assume that there has to be something there other than a ringing hollowness. Our brains fill in the blanks, or assume that DS must have some grand design for all of this beyond making money from this all. I just wish he'd make more of an attempts to bring the writing to the same level as the art.

Pretty much this. The entire Ann/Lisa sex ed thing has me bored to tears conceptually. We DID sex ed already, it was ages ago, and it took for fucking ever. Don't get me wrong, I generally liked that whole arc, but we have done this all already. We've been getting BJs from Ann for a while now, we've beenfucking Lisa up the ass since what, 0.6? It's just another stalling tactic, and it's not even a creative one it's literally a repeat of stuff we have already done, just with Ann instead of Kira. First, let me say that I love this game. In my opinion it is the gold standard of the genre, I appreciate the effort put into it by the developer, and the mods available are generally well done also. But really, does there have to be so much damn repetitive grinding between significant events, for example between the photo-shoots and movies? It's a little disheartening that there's not more thought put into flushing out the repetitive daily routines between one major event and the next (i.e., adding interesting, less repetitive content) or maybe just shortening the time spans between those events. I mean how many of the same HJs, and BJs, and Lisa training sessions, and Alice blog sessions, and Alice bumming money every day events does a player wade through before they just give up and move to another faster-paced game? Sorry for the rant; but I'm on my 4th playthrough of the game, am up to the point where you are supposed to view the second movie and I'm wondering why there has to be 2 weeks between the time Kira tells you the movie is ready to view and you can actually watch it with Ann. Something's not right when you have to grind through 2 weeks of repetitive stuff to watch the movie at that point, and this hasn't changed since the first version I played, and I'm wondering if there's much point in finishing this version for the few new tidbits added.

Oh, I think you're right with regards to Alice, she really needs some sort of a ret-con to make her a more sympathetic character. That's why I never liked her until that Kate revelation about her past -- by the time I got to that part of the game, I already had her pegged as a materialistic sort willing to do anything for money.

With regards to having character development, heck, I don't mind if it's not the great American novel -- it's a simple sex story after all. It's a fun diversion, got it only yesterday, sped through it lots. The only way I got through the grind is by checking the "Opportunities" tab lots, checking up on the walkthrough, and stat building to get to an event.

Edit: had to add this part. I still think the Lisa+Mom/Ann storyline has good possibilities in terms of at least helping Mom/Ann come to terms with her past. You're right, the key tension in this part of the game is that Mom/Ann views Lisa as still "innocent" even though Lisa at that point of the game definitely isn't, and how this plays out precisely because of that underlying tension is what makes it interesting to me. Also, the sex ed scene I'm referring to doesn't involve Eric, it's the one you get after Eric is out of the game, and is not yet fully fleshed out by DS. Getting rid of Eric was one of my overriding goals after my first one-on-one convo with him, egad, I saw red after that. I used the cheat to get rid of him, and decided to try getting rid of him in-game after I wasn't seeing red anymore.

Yeah, it's a Skinner box game, and the rewards from Ann and Lisa are really VERY repetitive. In this respect, the rewards for Kira and Alice are designed better -- Kira's events are one-time encounters (this is the sort of reward I like best), and those for Alice (the ones with only Max and Alice on it) has randomness in its mechanics to make it at least bearable a couple of times a player goes through it.

You're right, the ones for Ann and Lisa (especially for Lisa) feels like stalling tactics because it's essentially the same whether one does it once or 20 times.

I agree with the essence of your critique -- the stat building aspect of the game is wonky to play because only the "money" score is immediately apparent in the game interface. The other scores -- mood, relationship, authority and Eric's influence -- is hidden in a tab that I have to navigate to prior to any non-sexual interaction. This makes the stat building game mechanics difficult to keep track of. I think one big improvement (dunno how difficult it is to implement) is to make it readily apparent on the top part of the interface, so that I know quickly whether or not I should give money to Alice or Ann to modify Eric's influence, whether I should wash dishes/do tutoring or not to improve the mood of the characters, etc.etc. The time and resource management of the game, a core game mechanic in the genre of games BB belongs to, isn't really easy and fun to play at the moment.

One thing I noticed in DS' characters is that they have anything BUT consistent personalities.

For example:

Lisa plays the innocent little sister, so far so good, then she starts getting dirtier and dirtier with her brother untill they reach full fledged anal sex anywhere, then she goes back to "I want a boyfriend, someone who I can trust to give my first time" and starts going to dates with max just to shortly after that go back to "Meh, I don't mind you fucking other girls, as long as I can watch, maybe, just maaaaaybe I'll join".

Ann starts as the strict mother, that uses physical punishments (aka spanking) too "keep her children in line", but then she turns out to be a submissive woman who's not right in the head, then she turns bissexual with her own sister and then becomes porn actress, all that while still hypocritically using her strict mother persona.

Alice starts as the stereotypical elder sister, authoritative, loathes his younger brother but then turns out to be a submissive bisexual who would even let her brother fuck her if it pleases her dom, then she suddenly turns into a dom herself.

Yep, fickle as fickle can be.

I was talking about that with a friend the other day, and I reached the conclusion that, at this point, it's just fanservice, there's really no story going on. The scenes are still hot and DS does a great job at rendering. It's just the story that sucks.
