Honestly this makes me want to subscribe to his patreon, a lot of devs here have really unrealistic expectations of both how popular their work will be and what they are capable of as one man teams. UE clearly now has a very realistic idea of both of those things, and will now be working in the confines of what he can actually accomplish. He messed up and wasted a lot of effort but:
1) unity being ass was outside of his control
2) he recognized when the update was not going to happen and cut his losses rather than going sunk-cost-fallacy
3) he didn't just abandon the game.
That makes him better than 90% of devs here who fall to 2 or 3 or both.
