where can you learn basic skills like foraging, farming etc? i only managed to find one person teaching skills on the wilderness and he just teaches perception

There are three ways.
- explore the maps and find random chests with new skill books
- buy them for 20 silver each on Saturday by visiting the second floor at the brothel (not all available books can be purchased from her) and talk with the woman who can be found there (you can buy and read them again for extra crafting or combat points but that effect will become weaker and weaker until you get nothing anymore)
- solve quests and get books (like you mentioned with the hunter)
If you need something specific I suggest option 2. Random chests are like the lottery and option 3 is scripted so you will never get access to all skill books with the current content.
ended doing number two yeah, the rest were a hassle
didn't see the white magic book in there though, can that one be obtained via regular means?

I'm not aware of a white magic book. If there is such a thing I never found the quest to get it or no chest was willing to have mercy with me.

Perfectly fine but just remember that goblins are what they are, I would just don't romance the goblin girl to not have that risk, the tengu one doesn't have any risk that I know.

The game tells you that you need a strength of 6. You can reach that with a potion that gives +2 for a specific amount of time and if you use rings or amulets who grant you strength. Or you are a melee fighter and have 6 or more strength by default.
Did that, got the book, attempted to use it, crash. Forgot to save after getting the book. The crashes between that and when entering the eastern forest (with the cave and stuff) from the west crashing the game is really irritating.
