how do you get your first Ebon wood? I can't harvest it with a normal axe (and break my axe like i can with harvesting mithril). so this stops me from getting anything mithril :/ Do i have to just RNG it by opening chests within the cave and i will eventually get an ebon wood?

woodchopping skill : 5
number of normal axes : 20

Well you can craft the proper axe who won't break or you just buy spare axes and get your wood anyway while breaking one of them after each use. Haven't found it in chests yet, don't even try to count on finding it multiple times. :D Same goes for mithril.

If you mean that you can't chop it at all you will have to increase your agriculture skill lvl. Is there a specific message you get when trying to chop that wood?

One of the issues with processing raw resources, like ore into ingots, (compared to other intermediate and final products) is that there's a lot of them, and it's likely that the player will be processing large batches as they progress later in the game. This processing is common place and not (or shouldn't be) a process that elicits tension like other intermediate and particularly final products.
I may reduce requirements in future when more tiers become available like I did when Tier 2 gear became available, so it shouldn't take very long to process ingots in bulk when that happens.

You break your axe, just bring some spears. You still get the wood even if the axe breaks.

It's not present in chests. I haven't decided if I will add it to satchels yet either!

I ignored the ebon wood and did a bunch of other quests then came back to it today and it seems to have un-bugged itself. I can now harvest it with the low level axe. Guess something unlocked it as i reset my game/reloaded/slept/etc to try and get it to allow me to harvest it

This game has way way too many skills, and progression takes forever. The in game material that's supposed to teach you how to play the game doesn't really do that, because it doesn't even cover basic stuff like... how you get other skills, or ways to gain money or exp that's remotely effective (I'm not sure how you can save the guy in the tower, because you need to have money and there's no way to make money in time to save him), or how not to get absolutely creamed by even the most basic of enemies. It doesn't even cover how one actually increases their skills of the ones they do have.

ok, 50 hours into the game... initially the grind almost broke me (the one, two grind combo K.O of translating the fairy gate (needing to get INT items) then opening the fairy gate (needing to get LUK items) was almost the last straw for me) but i powered through until the end. Im now seeing a bunch of stuff that just makes no sense... Dont get me wrong, i really like the game (i've done everything in it now)...

GLUTTONY = just why? why do you hate your playerbase this much?

VIOLATION STACKS = I hit level 5 werewolves/etc etc etc from WINNING battles and having sex... now when i win battles i get a violation stack no matter what. So now i cant even go into the forest at night without getting -1 willpower from every werewolf battle. Yes i know i can spend 100 sex points to reduce my fetishes, but the whole point of getting sex XP is to become stronger, not go backwards in progression?

SEX SCENES = most sex scenes are shown when you lose... and I'd really love to know what happens when my morality/etc drops to zero, but i dont want permanent debuffs that will make me weaker, so i'll never see what happens (again this is punishing winning, why?)

MAGE BUILD = be prepared to save/load a lot... if you get silenced/feared it's game over a lot of the time. The enemy just chains it and you're stuck doing 1 to 3 damage per hit with your wand. (potions to cure silence are expensive and they sometimes just silence you straight again afterwards, and the cloak that gives 25% resist doesnt do much)

FOREST SEEDS = i feel sorry for the people in this forum (i read some guy harvested 500+ trying to get seeds) who dont realise that farmed forest seeds dont give you crap all with regards to random rare seeds.

...and just out out of curiosity: a Sapphire Diadem is a crown, but you have it as an accessory and not a head slot item. It also has the exact same stats as the amulet - Was it meant to be a head slot item?

This... is rather strange.

(I'm not sure how you can save the guy in the tower, because you need to have money and there's no way to make money in time to save him),
You can just sell some furniture from your home or the potions you get at the start.

or how not to get absolutely creamed by even the most basic of enemies.
By choosing a combat class or skills at the start of the game.

then opening the fairy gate (needing to get LUK items)
You can't even open it yet, it's not implemented.

GLUTTONY = just why? why do you hate your playerbase this much?
This will be reworked in the near future.

VIOLATION STACKS = I hit level 5 werewolves/etc etc etc from WINNING battles and having sex... now when i win battles i get a violation stack no matter what. I have mentioned that this is getting reworked over the next 1-2 updates.

SEX SCENES = most sex scenes are shown when you lose... and I'd really love to know what happens when my morality/etc drops to zero, but i dont want permanent debuffs that will make me weaker, so i'll never see what happens (again this is punishing winning, why?)
Your morality gets restored when you sleep so you can keep losing without worry. If it hits zero you will start obtaining depravity stacks which are very bad. The whole morality/depravity system is very loosely implemented right now.

MAGE BUILD = be prepared to save/load a lot... if you get silenced/feared it's game over a lot of the time. The enemy just chains it and you're stuck doing 1 to 3 damage per hit with your wand. (potions to cure silence are expensive and they sometimes just silence you straight again afterwards, and the cloak that gives 25% resist doesnt do much)
You need to wear armour to decrease damage taken. Chaining of silence is very uncommon as the skill has a very low priority order.

FOREST SEEDS = i feel sorry for the people in this forum (i read some guy harvested 500+ trying to get seeds) who dont realise that farmed forest seeds dont give you crap all with regards to random rare seeds.
I'll add a disclaimer on these seeds.

...and just out out of curiosity: a Sapphire Diadem is a crown, but you have it as an accessory and not a head slot item. It also has the exact same stats as the amulet - Was it meant to be a head slot item?
Yes, this is an error, I will fix it in the next update.

That's not entirely true.
At the Game start you can find some tutorial books in the Demon Queens room explaining most of it, and dureing character creation you are adviced to either use a predefined hero or take some combat skills along... you can still play the game without, but it gets more grindy.
After meeting the Sentry of the village you are explained that the Brothel is the most thriving business where you can earn money.
It doesn't tell you strategies to win battles though

I started as a rogue, which... should be a combat class? My chance to hit was pitiful. And of the two starting enemies, rats can up their evade to redonkulous levels, and hornets have an attack that hits 4 or 5 times in a single round. While I COULD beat those things sort of reliably, a single one of those fury attacks and I'd have to go rest because then I was just one more away from death. How does one increase combat effectiveness? If you can't level up, how do you increase HP, str, etc? This was never made clear.

From the skills I started with, one of the books seemed to have been more combat oriented, but without skill descriptions you just had to guess at what any of it did. And everything in the tree was really expensive that it was a massive grind to be able to allocate a single point.

Also, my house only started with a bed and a stove, so not like a wealth of stuff to sell there (nor did I even know you could sell the furniture).

And no, the tutorial books don't explain much in the way of how the intended progression works, or how to acquire skills. The game kinda just dumps you out on the deep end and peels away saying "yeah there's a bunch of skills, good luck!".

I'm sure your skill system is lovingly crafted, but you need to refine it and give clear explanations to the player as to how you intend for them to progress. Also, double all XP gains and halve the cost of all skill purchases, cause jesus man.

For those who have problems at the start. Pick Snuffles as a gift from the queen (he doesn't hit hard but he can tank damage if you order him to defend) and if you give him items that offer more life points he can tank even more. Plus he can lure some enemies away from you when they catch you on the map.

He may not be very good now but one or two rounds without taking damage can make a difference.

It's a hybrid class. You do start with a combat skill book but you have to level the actual combat part of it first as you only start with the utility portion of it leveled.

Full combat classes are Warrior and Mage.

How does one increase combat effectiveness? If you can't level up, how do you increase HP, str, etc? This was never made clear.
Through equipment, most of your stats come from your equipment. There are some quest rewards that give permanent stats but there are only like 1 or 2 right now.

With a decent set of armour you will hardly take any damage even from Fury attacks. It is also possible to defeat a Werewolf even without gear but you must start as a fire mage for that essentially, and even then it's roughly a 50/50 chance.

Otherwise you will need armour, accessories and at least 1 level in combat specs.

There are ways to win purely through consumables as well.

Also, I should note, combat in this game is mostly optional.

And no, the tutorial books don't explain much in the way of how the intended progression works, or how to acquire skills. The game kinda just dumps you out on the deep end and peels away saying "yeah there's a bunch of skills, good luck!".
The problem is, I do keep changing some of the systems as the progression curve gets defined and I would need to rewrite the tutorials every time. Given that tutorials take a huge amount of time to make, I rather not waste too much time on them when I can spend that time adding actual content. I think closer to the game completion, once all the systems are set in stone I will make a more detailed tutorial.

I know this is not a good solution, but I have tried to invest time in tutorials before and got burnt out and really demotivated by how boring it was to make them compared to actual content.

I read about the humans being hard to find and something about new roll is that a scroll or something?
If you need specific humans it can take a while to find them. Make sure to check both forests east and west of the goblin village. No idea what you mean with the other part.
