MC mentions in one of his thoughts that before they were a lot closer and she was a lot more affectionate. Most likely she's just a woman who's handling a traumatic discovery in an incredibly unhealthy manner. If she was tsundere then she would've started of cold and eventually warmed up. Here she started off affectionate and then before the game started began acting coldly. If she were a lesbian then she'd probably be more begrudging of the fact that she's married to a man.

I find it interesting though how a bunch of people are looking for reasons that she doesn't love the MC. Dev hasn't made any hint that the wife isn't a LI and she's on the LI stats screen. I'd be very surprised if she didn't have an actual relationship path. She just needs to get out of the funk she's in and stop blaming herself for her own biology.

IMO, it doesn't matter if she was warm in the past. Tons of games have "childhood friends that were really close and happy" turn up tsun when the MC meets them again in a game's current timeframe.

What exactly is it that's being held over them? There's no evidence, and even if there were it wouldn't matter anyway since they were all consenting. There's literally nothing to expose. Japan's neat in the streets and freaks in the sheets. Despite how fucked up their porn and erotica scene is this absolutely could've impacted the MC's position in his company and even if they kept him it would've impacted his promotion opportunities. Not to say that the blackmail wasn't completely ridiculous, just that specific aspect of it wasn't completely unreasonable.

I haven't played this in a long time but as I recall the blackmailer heavily implied he had evidence.
Life completely ruined? Not unless he was in an extremely public position but then that happens somewhat regularly enough in the west too. Life inconvenienced and career not entirely sabotaged but partly sabotaged? Yes. Japan hates scandals and even if it's not your fault being involved in one almost always will impact you. If his company likes him then they'd sweep it under the rug but it'd definitely haunt him at some point.
