The two weeks was a guideline, not a deadline. Any leaks after 2 weeks after the official release was considered long enough, after that, it's anyone's game to share with the community if they wanted, not that they were required to. From what I've read, the logic behind it is it's easier for people to distance themselves from the actions of an ugly monster.
It's basically like ugly bastard hentais, where most dudes, no matter how ugly or overweight they are irl don't look like ugly bastards so you can distance yourself from their actions in the hentai.
Just like Blackadder's work, the theory goes that it's easier for guys to put their dark desires of raping, dominating, and forcing women onto the monsters, so after you're done with the work you can distance yourself from those dark emotions.
