i think his subscribers have actually gone up recently. fans of this game are cucks til the end.
We have to admit that the story is good, and totally out of the typical stupid Netorase where everything goes to hell in a matter of 5 scenes Cuff cough (NTRman), Actually those who complain about the updates I suppose they have their support on Patreon, Otherwise, complaining about something that is free and that is clearly being developed by a person seems very low to me to some extent.

I'm on Tori Bus, and although some comments I made may have been a bit "head-exploiting" hahaha I would really like to see this game released, but as long as he can and wants to do it.

I feel like we should all be excited since we haven't heard from Tori in a little. It means it's truly close. He mentioned that the previous update remaster and new update is completed. Just needs to finish correcting minor mistakes, editing script, and tweaking UI. So I'm sure he's deep in the cave trying to get that done.
not a good sign when your metaphor for development troubles has gone from "let him cook! he's in the kitchen!" to "he's deep in the cave. he's using rocks and twigs. he is cold and it is wet"

It's quite amusing that the developers keep delaying the release, always claiming to ensure the quality. The 0.5 version was not of high quality last time. They gave a vague countdown last time, but there was no update for more than 20 days. Now they're just ignoring the issue. What's even funnier is that the die-hard fans always chant the same slogan... Delaying is for better quality.

Even though I am still on the dev's side, all these platitudes from the fans both here and on discord are getting dumber and dumber.

No platitudes here, but the trolls are already jumping at the fact that Tori missed the end of august deadline (which was a rough estimation at best) to declare the game dead and abandoned. We already know that it's in the countdown for the last few days before release and we've seen the example shared of how the art's being improved. Sadly, I know that as soon as the update DOES get released, everyone's going to be screaming and crying that it'll be a Patreon subscribers only release and the rest of us have to wait another 2 weeks for the public release of version 0.6.2

Why can't he just give a release date to make everyone stfu ? It's really not that deep...(it was july, then august but now that he has not made it, it should be clear because it's the very (very) end right?).

He worked on the update so he should know where he's at and what's left, everyone has had a deadline in their life. And if what's left is unprecised you should at least be able to give an estimate of the work. Estimates are made for that. It's like we'll see the same exact post every week/month. It's been "close" for a lot of time now. It doesn't even make sense anymore. Groundhog day posting.

He probably can't give a release date at the moment. It was a definitely a mistake to start the countdown. People wouldn't be so mad if they weren't agitated by the countdown. So it might be the right decision not to give any estimates. The damage had already been done, but there is no point in furthering it.

It can be difficult to accurately estimate known quantities of coding work, let alone all the random unforeseeable adjustments that likely arise while working on a VN like this. This isn't a "slap on a few sentences and ship it" game, I believe the author spends time on the writing and probably adjusts/scraps things as better approaches are found. That usually comes with timeline-delaying stuff like coding tweaks, the need to create new art or adjust old art, reluctance to leave threads on the cutting room floor and cut off a storyline too soon, etc.

We're not in AAA deadline land, so we lose regular scheduling but get products that better reflect what the creator wants. I think that's a good thing even though it sucks to wait (because the game and story is so good). Some weeks, it feels like my project teams at work spend more time quibbling over price estimates/timelines for higher-ups than focusing on getting valuable work done for clients. It can pay to be patient, letting the experts focus on what they do best, resulting in a better end product. Just food for thought.

i think he meant 0.5.0, which was a lot rougher than 0.5.2, which improved it a lot
0.5.0 was rushed to release before Tori was ready for it to go out which is why it wasn't as polished and why the following two patch updates took so much longer. That's all the more reason people need to calm down and just give Tori time. as much as people complaining about how long it's been, this update is merely delayed by one month from the originally planned release date so far which is not abnormal for games on this site.

if your friend says "hey man, don't eat lunch, i'm bringing you some awesome food at 12pm" and you get excited...

then at 1pm he's still not there, so you ask "are you still coming?" and he says "the long wait is because i'm bringing you something extra good, you should get really excited." so you get even more hyped...

now it's 2pm and he's still not there. you ask again, "everything alright?" and now he's gone radio silent.

it feels wrong to get mad over a free lunch, but you'd be a little annoyed, right? even if you are a saint and DON'T get annoyed, you'd expect 9 out of 10 retards on a porno forum to get upset, right?

that's what is happening here. making a final countdown post for a hotly anticipated game update and then mostly disappearing for 3 weeks is gonna make people mad, even if they don't REALLY have any justification to be mad about it. i'm not personally that upset about it (plenty of other fish in the sea to jerk off to) but this thread turning into a nightmare is basically guaranteed given the circumstances

Wasnt the planned release date back in july? I'm not a sub, so I dont know the regularity with which he posts meaningful updates, but it certainly does sound like he's gone radio silent when it comes to anything of substance.

What's the big deal? So what, you're further behind than you want your boss (or oversight committee as it may be) to know.. Is anyone really better off by cloistering away hoping the problem disappears if you can catch up?

I feel like most avn players are pretty forgiving - to a fault - towards devs who delay projects yet regularly communicate about those delays. What sends them into a tizzy is lack of communication. Which is totally understandable, given the historic trend with how abandoned projects come about.

What purpose does the opaque style serve? Why not just say "I have 6 days of script files for this release, I'm finished with 4 of them, working on the 5th now?" The conclusion most people come to in the absence of information is a given dev is further behind than they'd like everyone to think.

*this is all predicated on the assumption this thread serves a a weaker mirror for communications heard by his direct patreons-if not, then nothing I've said applies.

yeah, the original release date was planned for the some time near the end of july, then it got officially pushed back to some time near the end of august i.e. a few days ago. a couple of weeks back we heard that the update was in the final countdown to being released and we've seen a sample of the updated artwork. we've no reason to believe that the updates be pushed back against (despite trolls trying to tell everyone that it's been delayed for 3 more months or that the game has been abandoned). I expect the update will be out in a matter of days, but Tori doesn't seem to want to give a specific date which is understandable as things happen and it's better to stick to a more vague timeline.

Also, Tori puts out regular development updates, so again we have no reason to think the game's been abandoned at this point. If people want to argue that Tori should communicate publicly more, then that's fair. but instead we get troll after troll baselessly telling everyone the games been delayed 3-6 months, or that the games been changed from NTS to NTR, etc.

Even if you're not subbed, you can see that Tori has been posting news info and when they were released:

Dev Diary #2 - May 10
Dev Diary #3 - May 24
Dev Diary #4 - June 10
Dev Diary #5 - June 23
Bonus CG post - June 26
Dev Diary #6 - July 7
Devi Diary #7 - August 4
Final Countdown - August 11
Spoiler Diary - August 21
Behind the scenes diary - August 27

So, no Tori has not gone silent. This is of course not counting all the other non-official communication we've gotten here and there. This update is supposed to be the biggest update yet and it's only been delayed about a month so far with regular news updates to the subscribers.
