I think update withdrawal is setting in and the poor fools have started to hallucinate from starvation because neither his Patreon or Subscribestar have been updated with anything new.
Unless the expectation was there would be no delivery then he delivered as expected...

That is all depends. Have to ask yourself is
(1) Is it been develop by solo or team/company? How experience they are? (writing, grammar, graphic/animation designing, etc)
(2) Is it is a part time or full time project?
(3) Is it simple or complex story? Is the story completed? Do they have the flow chart ready or not? If no flow chart, do they have project planning chart?
(4) Does it have funding to support the project?
(5) Are they working on multiple VN project?

I know certain number of developers do it on their own spare time, Patreon may not be enough to support them to focus on it as a full time. Keep in mind the amount they get per month (depending on the requirements to earn it) there are Patreon fees, then taxes and etc. So they do not get that amount you see posted on their site. Since COVID-19 hit world wide, it had effected a number of developers as well users. We all just need to be patience for the next update. If you are not pleased, there are other VNs to explore while waiting for the update or move away from the VN's forum that you are not pleased.

Have a great day and be safe... (y)

original game is into 7th month with no update, 2nd project started in october 2019 and is on 0.02 update in january 2022. and yet he receiving at cummulative for both games 4k$+/mo. for what?
usually with this pattern, devs are introducing 2nd game to cover inactivity in original game, a kind of alibi for not delivering either. here it is very clear. look at his pace.
with that ammount based on monthly subscription it is not anymore side project. if it is side projects than be decent, honest person and charge it per major update (no bug fixing, extra scene etc... real update) as some devs are doing.
supporters if you want more progress cut his incomes, demand pay per update and maybe this milkman will start to regulary deliver cheese. no matter is it his side project or main one. don't pay for his leisure time

New player. Just downloaded latest version, Bones_Tales_Survivor_Guilt_0.02 and got this error when trying to leave the house.

Failed to load: img/parallaxes/ground1_3.png
The same thing happens with this game every time he releases new update. It's nothing uncommon.

Edit : You should report it on SG forum so perhaps doc can see it.

Yup, you pretty much nailed it. Like doc focuses on his SG game that not many players care about while Manor gets updated some every 5 - 6 months, now 7. His previous updates took some 1 - 2 months while reworks take 6 +/- months. Also not many players are fans of reworks either and usually when devs do something like this they at least reconsider future development of their games, like if they get backlash, players dislikes or something. Doc however is persistent on his reworks even tho not many players like it.

Well, if you are SubscribeStar or Patreon subscriber you need to communicate to the developer in SubscribeStar forum, Patreon forum, and/or private discord asking why the project been delayed. Mean time you should check into their policy for developer requirements, if the developer do not meet the requirement or respond in timely manner, you can reach out to SubscribeStar or Patreon and fill out the complaint or unsubscribe from their site. You may say this developer is making +4k$ per month, minus SubscribeStar or Patreon's fees, transfer and converting currency fee, taxes, etc. So, might ended up half the value or less. If the developer has a team to assist the work then less money for the developer since the developer is also paying the team as well.

If you are not a SubscribeStar or Patreon subscriber (pirate users) there is not much you can do, you can complain as much you want to and etc. Which usually 90% of the users on F95 are pirates and 50% of them complains about the when the next release update, patches, incest patches, etc. Beside why complain if you are using the VN/Game/Video/Graphic at no cost that may make the developer losing money while supporting the developer at no cost.

Beside, Dr Done is not the only person who seems to be in slow update release as well working on more than one project. There are others as well in other F95 forums. There is a VN i really enjoy, that only works on one project that rarely communicate in F95 and takes quite some time to release the next updates. In addition, that forum got tagged twice as "Abandoned" over the last two years. There is nothing I need to complain about that since I do not subscribe to that developer's SubscribeStar or Patreon site.

Overall, you currently or used to subscribe to SubscribeStar or Patreon of this developer's site and not pleased with his/her service. You can recommend others not to subscribe or support the developer due to the x, y, and z reasons. However that does not mean the developer is the money milker because he/she has no control of the support who are continuing to support his/her project. Depending on the SubscribeStar or Patreon regulation/requirement, the developer may not get the fund until they meet the number or requirements. Some time the developer even pause the subscriptions even the numbers show they are making x amount of money per month, doesn't always means the developer is getting that money yet.

Have a great day and be safe... (y)
