Shouldn't be possible, you'll have to find the variable for Doyle and adjust that as well. Do all that and it SHOULD work but since I haven't tried it I can't say Yay or Nay
And... that’s it? He was actively teasing new stuff, streaming, promising to release something at the end of July, and then just... vanished?

well let's take a look at this he now put on the op that this game is started just when he droped this update not that it is older then that. but now it lookes like he is saying that this is a remastered are something. funny how he want's to lie and make it like this has not been here for who now's how long it set here lol
nope.
you can only advance after seeing every event possible, than doyle will become a viseble ghost, and not just a voice.
when that happens, you can choise the path you want them to be. (only 2 posiblilety's except for mia, no path alteration as of now) you can get more content with the girls and have them react difrend, or stay the way they are now, no new content for them, or changes in dialog.
everything depends on the amount of scenes you have unlocked. (mia can never take your V-Card unfortuanly, as you need to lose it before she spawns)

the walkthrough in the OP (named GUIDE/WALKTHROUGH) provided by Golem98 seems up to date with current version. it's decently structured and should be halpful for the confused.
