There are plenty of literary master pieces that you probably didn't read in the course of your education because they are erotic in nature to out right pornographic. Hell even google can manage to pull up a rather decent list of them. No I don't consider 50 shades of gray among those. There are far better authors.
As for actual porn movies there are a number of good ones with good plots and even decent acting.
I generally think there are people who use an opinion like yours to excuse crap products and work.
I'm also not saying every single game is bad or the rate of bad games is really any worse than regular literature. Hell, I can't count the number of books I read a few chapters of and just through it the fuck away because the author suck ass. I am a bit curious. By your post, you seem to be a lover of story games (well-made stories that is) and with covid you have had time to play most games. And I assume you played the games that have story as focus.
So, which game have you actually played?
My game is not a top game in the overall market here, far from it, but it is one of the more well-known games among the story lovers out there (liking or disliking it is another matter)

Games such as CoBD by Phillygames are also one game that heavy emphasize the story . I do not see that game has any of the faults you mention in your post.

Summertime saga is not aiming to write a compelling story. Milfy City is not trying to win over the people with realistic events but more 'boys fantasy'. Stuff that does not make sense and would never happen in real life. But the devs of games like those never aimed for that. They wanted to make games that were fun and easy to fap to. And they did just that.

Well I've been trying to keep from actually listing names in the thread so to avoid it hurting any authors feelings. Or having people focus to much on any one game.
There are a good number to list also.
I think a picture might be easier to answer that. That's just one directory also games that I have no longer any interest in are removed. I keep the compressed file after I am done playing of one's I like so I don't need to down load them again if I choose to replay them.
I'm not referring to one genre because the issue is systemic across all of the genre. The issue is more related to the way people are developing that what they are developing. The same issues can be found in all of them. The only reason to associate a connection with what I am saying to one of them is because of my choice of examples.
The way you refer to fantasy is shallow. I can get that aspect if your teen male character run around town and is driven purely by write then and there instincts of wanting to bone the female at that moment. That's not really a fantasy though that's just hormonal drive. Fantasy is when you imagine something that isn't probable or you want to achieve. A better example of fantasy would be the male who strives to have a harem or even just one woman he sees as difficult to attain. Or maybe his goal is to have as many sexual encounters with women over that summer as possible ... The point is there is something to strive for. Its in the definition of fantasy.
As for summer time Saga I couldn't stand the game play mechanics of the day being broken up into sections that makes simple shit take unrealistic amounts of time. Milfy City has similar mechanics in that regard. Both however are story based. The freedom you have in both games is limited you have to do various things for the story to progress along. So I don't get how you say those games are not focusing on story. They don't really have a clear ending of the story or goal set as of yet that I can remember. Both seem to be more of a telling of a story of what happened over a period of time.

A lot of devs look at other games and take a look what makes money and decide by that or they go with their own preferences. Then on the other hand you have the fappers erm potential customers who often complain if they have to read too much, complain when a story is too complex for them to grasp. There are enough games out there with a good story that have barely any support. So why bother and write a proper story if you can have half assed story's and make loads of money?

We devs get our fair share of hate. And the higher you get up in the popularity of the games the more frequent the hate becomes. So, you shouldn't be afraid to hurt any devs.

With a quick look - none of the games I mentioned was among your list. In fact, the majority of those games are sex first and story second.
And I think herein lies the problem and why you don't play the story focused game yet want story-focused games.
You see all the games as the same. There are no preferences, no genres, no nothing. Every game must be how you want it to be. The issues you speak of are more issues related to your own preferences than actual issues.

They are great games. I enjoy them. But It is laughable to say they are story-based. The story is a means to forward the sexual content. That's the only purpose of the story. To move along the wheels enough to add more sexual content. To be able to add a bit more character depth to make the sexual content more alluring. That's the only purpose of it.
Story base content is different. The main goal of the story is not to drive forward the sexual content but the actual story.

I think there are two main issues with your opinions.
1. you see all the games as the same no matter their style and genres. Therefore you expect that all the games must be made in a specific way regarding what the dev intent it to be. (Sexual focused or story focused)
2. You have a hard time differencing between sexual-focused content and story-focused content. There are games that do both very well. But the majority of the devs have a focus area. The fact that you can see summertime saga and Milfy City as story-focused games simply because there is a bit of story in it.
That be like saying Mr. Bean is an epic drama with a high level of storytelling because there is a bit of story in it.

Well, my experience is a bit different. It is usually the virgins that have a twisted view of how sex is in reality. Where they think that real sex resembles how it is in porn movies/games. The poor females, that had to deal with that, knows that is far from how reality is.

Hmm, rather than developers and all that I always thought that the player base is the biggest issue in everything. I mean, it must be annoying as fk to make everything optional so that people don't see content they dislike and then have to take it into account for future scenes.
Personally I believe that we will come into the best adult games when we as players can get a bit of tolerance for fetishes we dislike and just skip them, unless it's an extreme hate that you have against that fetish, in that case just skip the game.

I think there is an over saturation in the market currently. Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink. But generally speaking the quality isn't great. One thing I can say is if you look at what sells, a certain basketball game that's not about basketball for example, that is the future. "Walk on Water Porn" as I call it. I hate it but a TON of people love is and good for them and that dev, but that is where the market will go and I don't blame any dev for going there. This is an expensive hobby/business and if you want a return, make "Walk on Water Porn". Lot's of games on here with depth NEVER get tehe support and they get abandoned. People just want feel good stuff these days and god bless whatever gets you off.

The majority of people don't want a great story, they don't care about quality, they want fap material, lots of girls, quick updates. That's where the money sits, and that's - of course - where most devs will go.
Look at which games are at the top spot in the community, it's either pure fap-material with lots of easy to get girls and simple story, or games where the dev is doing quality stuff for a loooong long time already. There's basically nothing in between.

There are many different types of stories. Milf City & Summertime are similar in nature both cover events that happen over a period of time. That's like reading the news paper each day to me boring as hell. It isn't like a character that has a greater quest of some kind, there is no great struggle or anything. I mean add a goal to it that is the overlying story. Raise money to buy a car, take a trip over seas, get grades up for college, help the family pay for home, pay for your own schooling.... Something that ties the story more together and is the primary struggle and all the rest of the stuff fills in as part of how it is accomplished.
Summertime lists a few like that raising money for college is one, mystery around fathers death, and prom date. However, playing the game and its mechanics is unbearable. Take the something as simple as a teacher saying to see her after class. When class ends you can't do that at all no matter what. You are forced into other crap. With the French teacher you are kicked out of the school and end up talking to the neighbor. You can talk to her the next day. You can't however on the same day bring up the subject of tutoring and you sure as hell can't see her in her office as she says to in the conversation. Chemistry teacher same issue it turns into night time you are kicked out of the school. All this because they chose this idiotic 3 part day systems and then force you into some stuff. Also you are supposed to have gone back on the second day to help the the lady with the garden again per the conversation. But you can't. You end up mowing the law to help with chores spend a $100 on a gas can and gas. Then you go to school. The point is the game mechanics screw with the dialog. Trying to deal with that shit through out the game is not worth my time it irritates the fuck out of me and takes any enjoyment at all I had in the game and crushes it.
