It's not the developer, is that older Ren'Py is being phased out, you are going to be doing that a lot then as a lot of games have started migrating and a lot more will be unplayable for you...and it's going to keep going as well.
"What's wrong" is your computer. The rest of us have no issues running it on Windows 10 or 11. If you are using something older than that, then the problem is you are running an obsolete system but expect the dev to support something even the maker of that system no longer support. In other words, the problem is still on your end. Don't blame the dev for it.

I finally managed to make it run in Lutris for Linux, but trying with the .sh file as I do for other games did not work even if version 0.13 was fine. I don't really understand what changed, but currently that's what works.

It is a "market" build that came directly from Steam, market builds will ONLY work out of the box for Linux and Mac if you download it directly from Steam. If you don't you need to give it permisisons.
Something like this: Permission fixer for Mac and Linux, Mac there are other ways, as Mac is usually because of Gatekeeper.

You can go over budget, but I can't afford to keep buying a new computer (my old one is too slow) or a new operating system. There are many game developers, and despite new tools and programs, they don't change them mid-game, continuing to develop using the same tools. Just like they started...

The previous update definitely ran on a VERY old computer with Windows 7 and only 4 GB RAM. So I am pretty sure it is not the dev's fault, but something on your side. I did not try the actual update on that old machine, but I would be very surprised, if it did not run there.
Of course you can give up, but don't blame the dev, if it's a problem on your side, then.
EDIT: It really looks like it is the Windows version, so maybe the actual update indeed would not run on the old machine.
But seriously: Windows 7 is highly unsafe due to the lack of security updates since quite a while now. It is really time for a newer and safer version...

While I entirely agree that changing the game engine (in this case the renpy version) mid-game is an asinine idea that all devs should avoid if at all possible, any cheap semi-modern computer with minimal specs can run it fine. So don't blame it on over-budget. And if even that is over-budget, well then you have bigger fish to fry in your life, and it's still not the dev's fault.
Not gonna need it personally but nevertheless thanks for going out of your way to make this for some that are still on legacy systems.
How do you get the second to last scene with Chole? The one where she wakes up right after the family tells her that they all love her and she wakes up from inside where she was chained? It was at the end of act 12.
1.5 hours into story (Ep 7 when they are at Liraz place and Mia just saw MC) and Im wondering does it get better? Right now its all over the place.
Chloe is a massive bitch and dumb as hell everytime she gets some screentime, The Mother's got raped mental breakdown wasnt much fun to read too and geniuenly couldnt care less about Megan or Liz at this point in game.
Bright Lord conversations 90% of time end up in - Fuck her, No, Fuck her I said!, No!!, Then Ill kill her, Okay Ill fuck her loop so also kinda repetitive?
(And so far barely any sex scenes at all)
Im still gonna give it hour or two more but wondering if it gets better.
Story wise - Does corruption stat effect something? Using walkthrough mod and its marked red so wondering, since most of Mom route choices are always increasing it by 5.
(and do we still need ipatch here? - downloaded the game from goflile in main post)

Chloe has a nice ass, but she doesn't have good scenes where she bounces it very well, and the camera angles in her scenes are quite bad, if it's cowgirl and doggystyle, you have to have very good angles from behind, and a reverse cowgirl with a camera angle from behind or in POV view.
