Honestly Grace is dead to me as a character. No amount of revision or retconning of her will make what happened before leave my mind, ever. Things like that are why people say "Always make a good first impression." because that is what is permanently etched in people's minds. As long as I can utterly ignore her going forward okay. If my ignoring her makes me lose out other content I'll just drop the game as a whole. That is just my feelings on the matter.

I'm just playing devil's advocate here since everyone is free to feel however they feel, but "Always make a good first impression" is the opposite of "Never judge a book by its cover". If I have to choose one that feels more correct than not, I'd say it's the latter rather than the former.

And for what it's worth while listening to your prospective audience is good, understanding them is better. You saw how people reacted to Grace and how she as a character was presented. You got a lot of good input from a lot of people. You can use that input to grow as a writer or you can get stubborn and refuse to listen. The former will allow you to branch out as a writer in the future in terms of stories. The latter will deadlock you into an echo chamber of a niche. Either way it is up to you as a writer to decide what you want.

And this is where I'm happy to actually call you out. What's the point of understanding the audience if no amount of revision would change your mind? The dev is trying to understand what was wrong with Grace and had made an attempt to fix it, but you were the one who is stubborn and refuse to acknowledge the change. It's really awkward to see you giving advice, but at the same time prefacing that it wouldn't change anything to you even if they took your advice. You're already deadlocked into an echo chamber of first impression, no?

So I didn't really play the game but skipped through it to check the changes for Grace and well her backstory is still the same toning the dialogue down does nothing for me plus from what I saw she already has a child and I'm not a fan of that for personal reasons. I'm also not a fan that every LI has a terrible past/backstory and you said only the girls in the banner are LIs which means 2 of my favorite models in your game aren't LI. So all in all I think I will pass on your game because I don't see a harem tag and it seems like the game is focused too much on drama.
The only real good thing I saw is your art but I'm not blinded by it like so many others.

Too early to do that, we won’t put that right at the start because you still need to meet and socialise with the current characters. But idk maybe we do make those choices but I don’t think of that being likely.

For some art is all that matters. That doesn't mean they are blind or stupid. We all have different tastes, there isn't reason to insult others that like something different than you imo.

It's too drama centric for me as well, but I don't see any reason to insult it's fans

Being A Dik is a better example of a divisive game than Summers Gone, so many love it, but pissed me off the first 2 LI turned out to be lesbians, and then forced to do gender studies..

Damn, I fell for her the moment MC assertively kisses her by lifting her against the bookshelf in the library (early episodes) and Bella gave in for the first time wholeheartedly. That was some moment, the eye contacts, the expressions she gave.

That's the right mindset. In this business, you gotta have thick skin if you wanna make it big. Don't be a pouty princess like Nyx and don't get discouraged by some bad reviews, on the contrary, do better next time and prove your haters wrong.
