As one of 4 people on this site that actually read the dialogue in these games, the fact you're defending this pile of slop is horrifying. There are so many issues that I didn't point out and saying "we'll learn when they tell us" is half of my problem. Not to mention how dumb most of the plot has been. His cover story of "I used to be a cop" is so mentally deficient that your head would have to literally be hollow to not think "Hm better not let him near my drug cartel." Add to the fact that the theme of the game is basically "It's Trauma!!" Feels so lazy. EVERYTHING in this shovelware has been done to death and then some. But no! I just don't get it, do I? I haven't waded through 14 other games that are exactly this game. I should wait it out and support the dev because they "might have potential" or "it might get better." If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, it must be a subaru impreza levels of bullshit right here.
Wow, wow dude, hold on a second.
Since when you saw in the story that his background is "I was a cop..." He told his math's teacher the Japanese chick with midlife crisis-divorce saga, that his family was originally from here, but he never got to live his life here, but since the only connection to the city was some business and offices his family has in Vetro, "his parents decided" to send him study economics in VU, so he can take over their business down the road in the city... for a person that claims to be reading the whole story in detail that is quite a miss.

As my esteemed colleague xxWankerxx, said these are not the Oscar nominations my man. The game has it's flaws certainly it goes without a saying.

Yeah, trauma is pretty common motivator and motor power for anyone to want a change, so it is a valid motivational point. But here is the thing... past trauma event under the light of achieving goals related to the common good, the good of the people. That is something I can live with and accept. It is not a mindless past trauma on it's own motivating and moving the story forward on it's own for the sake of the selfish MC.

It is a common thing with all cop - detective stories. They are based on trauma, heavy vices or simply something based on tradition or contrasts. Like in the MC case his dad is a criminal, he became a cop which is a contrast case. Tradition is when a MC close relative is a cop himself and he just steps in his father shoes, which is not the case in this scenario.
It is a standard set up and nothing bad there. So it is hard for me to go "apeshit crazy" over such things. It would have been strange for the MC not having this set up as mentioned in the above examples.

I must say that UC VN is something new that is not common and when not reaching some level of authenticity could frustrating since it is a new type of play field on it's own. There one game that comes somewhat close to the UC genre not quite the same but somewhat close and that is Homecomming: Agent something... But there the perspective is entirely different since it is corporate espionage again with high society aspects and government shit and other stuff. I don't know if the game got finished at all.

On the bright side of things this current game has outstanding soundtrack, great renders and some quite attractive and unique chicks.
The MC is not some awful and ugly looking college kid that looks under his teachers skirt or the girls around him in general which is a huge plus on it's own. So there is that. Most NPCs are well done and have their own agenda, while others are hidden as story point of interest down the keeping the e inigma around them intentionally. Like the dude that takes over from old mob boss Alexei and the father of Alice. I have the awful suspicion that Alice's dad is into it with the Syndicate some how, that is why the dev keeps him hidden. Eitherway good stuff. Regrettably I expected more content for the long wait, but that is what we get for now... hope they do better in the next update or faster.

I really like and enjoy the avn despite thinking the undercover-cop angle being bs

Lets be honest, to be able to write a really good thriller you have to have an amazing amount of creativity and talent, its not even that common among accomplished writers.

And i dont think a single dev who has his game here on f95 has these required skills which you cant blame them for, they need to be good at so many stuff usual writers doesnt have to concern themself with.

I would even argue all the usual avn tropes (mc and LI's cant die for example, LI's would never cheat or really betray you) are kinda making a good thriller nearly impossible to achieve.

And on top of that, undercover-cop + avn just doesnt work in general, a huge appeal for (i think) a big majority is the relationship development and character development, while being a undercover cop always requires a certain amount of dishonesty towards the LI's which fucks this whole setup kinda over.

I just dont take the crime angle of this avn serious but am still (surprisingly) able to enjoy the other parts of it a lot.

This is a large part of it for me. Then you get an MC who starts to care about someone and decides to tell them the truth, which then undermines the whole undercover angle. This works for fuckfests where every encounter is casual and random, but not if you're building relationships.

Frequently said, and definitely agreed.
School/Slice of life/Romance part is really good and LIs are great, and that makes VN lots of fun.

Funnily enough, I kind of think detective part, stupid as it is, helps make other parts better and game would be worse without it.
Not sure how to explain why I think that, just don't think school angle would be as good if it was just "school for rich kids" story.

I think that's because it gives the MC something to do, a goal to work toward. Many college AVNs are slice of life with no clear goals other than sex, parties, and maybe getting a degree.

I actually just finished a playthrough of this game following the kylie path. It was much better than I expected. The romance was handled much better than I expected. I am looking forward to playing back through and exploring the alternate paths and scenes. Just wanted to praise the game a bit. I really enjoyed my time. Really interested to see where this goes. It did end on a really annoying cliffhanger. I feel like I am watching a tv show from the 90s with that cliffhanger stopping point :HideThePain:

Just coming in to play this update, and I have paths set for LIs who have had (IMO) some branching so far, and a base save to continue for those who have not. The problem is I haven't a clue if there's an LI I want to start playing first - nothing is jumping out at me as "I have to continue that path first". I guess that means I should just go with the base save...

Any LIs getting good story here though?

I guess Grace has a sweet kind of childhood love story going for her, Afina has some serious demons from her past but we don't know what they are... like glaslow said above the relationship with Kylie is progressing nicely

My personal favourite is Evelyn but sadly she doesn't get much story so far.

The only two I was properly considering were Grace (because I at least remembered the stuff with her, and the sweet "family" scenes with her and her daughter) and I think it was Alice (because she's the boss's daughter, if I'm remembering correctly, and I thought that could be interesting/awkward depending on how things go).

Grace has the most story so far so you can definitely go with her (she's my second favourite).

You're correct - Alice is Tianna's, the captain's daughter but there's still not really much to it apart from the fact that they're trying to reconnect.

Does the dev or anyone else know what the future tags are yet? ( yes i know the ones in dev notes but it legit doesnt say much.)
1. Why does this update feel like setting up a harem style game or ending, because all girls are throwing themselves at MC or giving him a hes attractive and I wanna be with.
2. How many Li's are there? Are there nine main ones (according to the gallery), or are side Li's or future main ones being added?
Or who are the main Li's? Are the other girls just side characters that Mc can fuck?

3. Adding all this Li with multiple endings/ branches, no wonder it takes the dev a while.

As for the recent update, I'm really disliking MC more and more with bullshit undercover skills and having girls protect him because of his mistakes.

Yeah Grace is who I want to explore next. I like the dynamic of her and the daughter it seems super wholesome.

Oh yes, I forgot about this stupid decision. This really needs moving to the preferences screen and removing from the actual game itself. Imagine having no quickmenu, but a permanent bit of writing in the bottom corner instead, for something that should (if at all) only need clicking once...

Anyway, if it annoys anyone else, drop this rpy file in game/scripts/textbox and it'll be gone. (I just blanked out the actual word "TEXTBOX", so although you won't see it there anymore while playing, the functionality is still there if you click in the right place.)
