I'm not particularly fond of furries, but must admit that some glaceon H pics got my attention

I'm surprised no one's done the eeveeloutions other than eevee
You need someone willing to do furry, which limits it a bit. But there is also the issue of sheer volume. All the Eeveeloutions have huge amounts of fan art, SFW and NSFW. Characters like that are significantly more work to build packs for. Multiply that by the number of them, and it's quite a job to do them.

wouldn't that be a good thing since they have so much to pick from? I'm honestly thinking of working on it myself, maybe not all the eeveeloutions, I might do like glaceon and sylveon, and see how I feel from there

Remember that Leortha is from the top-down school of 'get all the pics and prune them'. And, well, the picking is still work, no matter the approach. Do a 1000+ image pack and you'll see how happy you'll be after it's finally done. And done can involve stuff like intentionally gaming the tag system to make for a better variety, and not just what's been called 'WYSIWYG' tagging which is the popular and recommended way. Plus making a proper _BK.ini, maybe some events... Most pack makers never use half the flexibility BK offers due to how much work it all is.

yeah, filtering through characters with tons of images is kind of a nightmare sometimes. part of me has wanted to make a proper Alice Margatroid or Patchouli Knowledge girl pack, but they have tens of thousands of images uploaded to danbooru alone. the more images you have to look through, the more work it is to prune, tag, etc. even just the Lamy pack i made a little while ago was kind of exhausting. lotta characters i'd love to have packs for that i just will not make myself because there's far too much art of them to sift through

To explain the term "top-down", I'll give my view of the two main pack-building strategies. And I'll stress that IMHO neither is inherently better than the other. One is just how I happen to do things.

In the "bottom-up" strategy a pack maker starts with nothing. Then they do targeted searches of sites to collect pics that match various tags. With this strategy the pack builds up from nothing as the searches collect the needed images.

In the "top-down" strategy, which is what I tend to do, I start by doing mass bulk downloads from multiple image sites of images for the character. I end up with a large volume of images. I then use a number of methods to do passes against the mass of images, whittling it down until finally a pack emerges. This works great most of the time, but when there is a huge amount of images for the character it can be quite intimidating.

The "bottom up" strategy is my favorite one, but there's quite the same amount of work to be done: you don't have to eliminate thousands of pics one by one, because you search and download what you like. But you have to search. A lot.

how do you make a _BK.ini? is it mentioned in this thread? Also I'd love a feature that like goes to the next non tagged image to make things easier, is there a function like that or no?

If anyone familiar with coding and/or machine learning, might want to checkout Object Detection . It uses training a set of images to create algorithms for searches with datasets. One guy did for a portrait pack for Pillars of Eternity on the . So basically you train your comp to see all cute chicks and help it label. In the end you provide a sample image like a girl in a bikini and the yolo prog will find all the images with chicks with bikinis.

I recently made a girl pack by hand of just 411 pics C+ rating and it took me a day and a half. After training, that should drop it down to a few hours even in image sets in the thousands. So far Yandex image search is helping like the yolo prog for ghetto image searches.

how do you make a _BK.ini?
__neronero recently made a _BK.ini generator addon to the tagger tool. Leortha has a template you can download and use as a base.

I don't think so. Not sure how popular it'd be, either, since you can just wipe your filenames clean and thus move anything untagged to the beginning of the pile. Which you can jump to after each commit.

Object Detection .
Given that a lot of images come from imageboards and are already meticulously hand-tagged by real people and over-tagging is a thing, this might not be as useful as it looks. Not sure how accurate it is, either, since it seems to be aimed at real-time use? It might end up as something like the tagging equivalent of machine translation, and do you want to be known as the MT pack-maker? :p

Name them something like _UNTAGGED (00000).jpg, _UNTAGGED (00001).jpg, etc. Most (if not all?) file managers have a multi-rename option. The tagger places these at the start of your pic list, and you can jump there with a few applications of the '-100' button, or the default 'jump to'.

huh didn't know you could rename files in a batch like that, TIL. That should definitely help me make the pack I want

I use Advanced Renamer. One of the last steps I do before I start using the BK rename tool is to generic all the file names. aaaa0001, aaaa0002, etc. The BK tools converts those to the _UNTAGGED names, and the underscore at the start of that puts those in front of any already tagged files.

I've described it before, but here is again the 10,000 foot view of the steps in my "top-down" process...

1) Use bulk downloader on multiple sites to download pics for the character.

2) Dump them all in one folder.

3) Remove video files, GIF files, etc.

4) Use VisiPics as a first-pass for de-duping the mass.

5) Use Awesome Duplicate Finder as a second pass.

6) Often at this point use the Advanced Renamer to generic the file names.

7) Do a visual pass through the files in Windows to remove any pics that are obviously not suitable for a pack. B&W, pics that are not of the expected character, etc.

8) Run the mass through the BK tool. After this I have a pack.

9) Build the INI file.

10) Duplicate the pack to keep a copy of it for later editing.

11) Use XnConvert to convert all the pack images to WEBP format.

12) Zip up the pack. Upload it to Mega. Select a face image to put in the same Mega directory for reference.

13) Announce the pack, including a couple of sexy, but not nude or overtly sexual, images to go with the post. The pic selection criteria are just my preferences for how I like to illustrate packs.

For steps 1) and 2) I use with a custom naming scheme, which means that any tags that have been crowdsourced onto the image and are relevant for BK will remain in the filename. Makes the tagging step about 5x quicker because most tagging is already done for you by random internet strangers. The downside of it is that this method only works for certain sources (mine is specialised towards gelbooru/danbooru)

This is my Grabber filename. Add it under Options > Save > Filename > Default. I may have also modified my Tagging Tool to automatically rename some Gelbooru terminology into BK-tags.

any reason they need to be in WEBP format? what are the supported file types?
Better compression is the main reason. Their size tends to add up once you're running with 200 girlpacks. JPG and PNG work just as well (and I'm sure Renpy supports many other image formats)

And now the "bottom-up" method:

- keep a bunch of H sites where you can find good pics (don't underestimate google search and social networks like deviantart and pixiv)

- in each site, select your character and download any pic you find useful (gather them in a folder)

- once you think you have enough pics, use a software to find and delete duplicates

- convert pics in .webp (or .webm for animated gifs and videos)

- use tagging tool

- (optional) make a BK.ini

- (optional) make _events.rpy if you want special events for that character

Enjoy your new pack and feel free to share it with us ;)
