Hello again!
This week v17 had its public release (check it out

), and work on v18 kept moving forward. The Alex scene is officially wrapped, coming in at a whopping 9 animations, four unique ones plus five alternate angles. Easily the most animations I’ve ever done for an update. I’ve settled into a much more manageable workflow for animations now, so I’m definitely more open to doing more of them in the future. It still won’t be an “everything fully animated” type of game, I like jumping around within scenes too much for that, but I think we’ll be able to find a great balance going forward. That’s not the only progress this week. I also finished the next chunk of story content, including a few surprise character appearances that I’ll keep under wraps for now. With all that, the render count is sitting around 300. The only major piece left for v18 is the scene with Sophia, which I’m hoping to finish by this time next week. If all goes well, that means the update should be ready for release the week after.
Looking ahead to v19, I’m planning to lean a bit more into the story, with a more expanded scene for Sophia. After that I’m thinking an Alex + Maddy update, then something with Chloe and Sophia again (separately). Once those are finished, I’ll likely run a couple polls to choose some side-character content, and then move into the Aubrey and Mei update, which will mark the end of Part 1 of the game.
On that note, I’ve been thinking more seriously about a Steam release. Here’s a rough checklist of things I want done for a finalized Part 1 and a proper Steam launch:
- Redo visuals up through around v7
- Add music and sound effects
- Spruce up a couple menus to make them more theatrical
- Translations?
As for music, last time I mentioned I wasn’t sure whether to source tracks myself or commission them. I’m leaning toward commissioning, but I don’t want to drop pieces in randomly as they’re finished. Unlike the visual upgrades, I’ll probably wait until the full set is complete before implementing it. All of this will be done in the background while I continue delivering regular updates.
That’s all I have for this week’s devlog, thanks for checking in, and I’ll see you again next week!
And to wrap things up, here’s a fun render I did on the side. I wonder what these fine women of the cloth are telling MC… The conclusion (and a ton of alts) are in the
