Okay, I just finished. Love this game! Sorry to see it go. I was able to play it all through in one go, having found it completed before playing it.

It will be right up there for me with other masterpieces like Love of Magic, Terminal Reach Sentinel, and Sorcerer.

Oh, yes. I plan to start the new one soon, as well as Callisto X. I just have a few things to get back to first.

That's correct. That was/is my first release.
However if you have a little patience, I'm finalizing Ver 0.75 which has a few updates to the story covered in ver 0.33 and adds a whole lot more story. Still, if you play v.033 you'll get a good idea of how I plan on expanding and 'polishing' this great adult novel/game.

The mission of Callisto-X is to fill out, improve, and expand the original story to include a whole different ending and add more interaction and challenges to the great inter-active novel it is. If you like Callisto, you'll enjoy Callisto-X even more.

BTW Callisto-X has it's own thread where you can keep up on changes and development status.

Damm the crew salary system in this game just sucks, whoever wrote it deserves a fraking gold medal or at least a pat on the back for writing a super crazy salary script.

So I'm curious why you think the crew's salary system 'sucks'?
It is a very realistic, accurate and honest sharing of the MC's (your) ability to make a profit from the week's trading. BTW, the MC's salary is a factor of those profits as well. If the ship doesn't make any money by Sunday Evening, no one including the Captain, makes any 'salary'. . .and it is NOT salary, but an actual SHARE of profits. This is about as fair as it gets.

Cheating may give you a good feeling by 'inventing' money and giving it to the crew, but you're acting like a politician, creating money out of thin air, distributing it to the citizens (to buy votes/good will) and then ignoring that you've inflated the economy and blame all the rising prices on those 'greedy capitalists'. It's a common lie we live with...but it is still 'theft'.

Now the easy way to have the girls (and you) earn more credits is obvious. Pay attention to what the prices are (If Tiffany is your trader, you know them) and and make credits during the week and do NOT buy a commodity on Saturday/Sunday so the week's earning are are at their max. The girls will love you for it, and you'll be able to buy more stuff for Callisto...without Cheating.

so I agree, the DEV deserves applause for creating such a weekly salary system. I wish things were this way in real life. Oh, and btw, I use the same system in my modified version, Callisto-X

There's no hand-holding in Callisto, and can be confusing for new players, but all you need is to have a brain. I would say i'm sorry for you not having it, but i don't care.

Ok Vicky Sidhu , let me help you understand something you've obviously mistaken.

I do not know how you got the idea that the Crew members pay was a salary!
Nowhere in the whole game is the word 'Salary' ever used. I'm sure because your insistence made me go back and check the text.

If you read the Help screens behind the "?" in the menu, you would know that this ship is on a 'share adventure basis' and how the game is set up to model an actual transportation, salvage and trade business!

Finally, on Sunday night, when 'pay day' comes, the captain says to everyone,

"Ok everyone, now for your favorite announcement of the week.
As always, we need to put 25,000 credits back into the ship's working capital.
After that, each of your shares of this week's profits comes to [NNNNN] credits."

What can be clearer?

So I hope that clears up your misunderstanding of the situation on Callisto with regards to how and what the crew are paid. Also, if I may, I believe this is as fair a system as any one can come up with because life and trade are unknown and the Dev deserves a lot of credit for creating it.

I hope you can learn how to make credits without cheating. It makes the game more 'real.' best of luck!

Oh Vicky Sidhu You CAN change the 'moron' captain's name. just go to the computer in the Captain's cabin and there is a button on the console that says "Change LogON"

Also, your English is very good for a ESL person. I had no problem understanding you. Please keep up the good effort.

And for a final help, have you downloaded the "walk through" help document I wrote? It especially helps with the very thing you're having a problem with, the trading mini-game portion. You'll find a link to it on the first page of Callisto's entry in F-95. Cheers!

professorx10 , I'd like to chime in to say that the shares method made quite a bit of sense to me. I'm not sure if you intended to base this off of historical pirate code/contracts with some variation of 2 shares for captain, 1.5 for officers, 1 share for crew, or if this was intended to mimic some of the more modern fishing or salvage operations.

IIRC, salary or flat pay wasn't considered the best option for keeping a crew together, as it meant some members may hold back on higher risk tasks as they don't have an upside, or could result in grudges if they got paid and everyone else didn't when a ship got skunked.

I didn't think it was confusing, but I'm not surprised that people who have no interaction with this sort of structure may find it a bit unexpected.

replay the prologue from computer in mc's room and skip to Vincent's part (Name might be incorrect) it's where mc get a loan from that guy to buy a ship called callisto, so i am pretty sure that makes him the owner unless things work differently in real or at least callisto's game universe. also feel free to correct me if i am wrong about this ( also i will replay prologue just to be sure).

So ? Yes he is the owner. That does not mean the others cannot be partners in the trading/salvaging business they run from said ship.
And indeed there is no part where they sign such a partnership either, but that's not necessary, because, as ProfessorX already pointed out, they actually get a share of the profits instead of a salary. Logic dictates then that they are partners, not employees.

LOL My "so" questioned your reasoning that, because the MC owns the ship, the others have to be employees, while that's just an assumption of yours which has no proof in the game. My first argument just pointed that out, that you were making a baseless assumption. You even acknowledged my argument by providing a counter-argument.
You also completely ignore the other argument in my post, which was also pointed out by ProfessorX, namely that the game specifically states that the crew members get a share, which voids your counter-argument in the spoiler.

In short, you made a assumption about the game without any logical evidence, and then you took the game to task for it (the salary system sucks) because that assumption was not met. And when somebody points out the error in your reasoning, you immediately shut down the discussion. I agree, trying to debate with you is pointless indeed.

It seems strange to assert that you can't accept the revenue sharing structure used in the game because it doesn't make sense to you personally. Share systems, like the one used here, are both actively used today and commonly found in history for piracy, salvage, and fishing. The system aligns pretty well with the nature of the business the MC is operating in the game.

I think you do make a fair point about the crew not also buying into the investment for trading, though a good amount of the value you're able to get from trades comes directly from one of the crew and not the MC directly. It's a minor plot hole, but a more complex system of managing your own trades and paying out shares for transport could result in not being able to dig out of making bad trades after paying the crew. In my mind it could be considered less accurate, but avoids a few other problems (like bankrupting yourself) and simplifies the calculations a bit.

Pretty cool game once you get the hang of trading. I can see why some people call it a bit grindy, but I'd say it combines VN with a small portion of business. Either way it's not THAT bad in my opinion and if you don't like it you can always cheat some money.
Small question though: Can you mess up the main quest/story if you take too long with certain decisions? I'm still a bit traumatized from playing the "The realms of Arcania: Blade of Destiny" game like 30 years where I minded my own business and after a few hours it was like "Well too bad, you took too long and now everyone is dead"

Also is it just my imagination or am I losing points with the girls? I swear they've already been higher at some point.
