Why not? Will the UE4 game not get bugfixes or other updates anymore?
The UE4 build is abandoned and has been for a while. The last time the devs pushed a build for UE4 that they bothered to announce was in June of 2023, and it is explicitly discontinued and no longer receiving updates. The only thing they bother with for UE4 these days is keeping the Patreon/Subscribestar launcher functional so people can continue playing it if they want to. (The launcher breaks semi-frequently because Patreon likes to make unannounced API changes)

Hey All,

The final update of 2024 is here at last, a veritable stocking-stuffer just in time for Christmas!

Included Content

The quests for the Inquisitors of Bast are now live. We can't really touch on the story without giving too much away, but it's safe to say that it's not all plain sailing and more than once you'll find yourself in a tight spot... if you play your cards right that is.

This update sees the return of true Inquisitors of Bast, rather than just her footsoldiers, along with the ability to join the violent cult / heroic champions [delete as appropriate] of the cat goddess.

Players can at long last see the other side of the story, peeking behind the curtain of the oft-maligned feline faction. You'll have a chance to see multiple facets of the order and begin your journey with them.

There are also now not one but two new Dynamic Sex System 2.0 scenes in the update, both accessible through the new quests. Both scenes are enabled for male, female, and futa players.

Take the fight to the enemies of Bast with the Inquisitor's Spear, another tool in your arsenal with which to dispatch the dangers of the dunes. Do watch your step as you explore however, as there are now significantly more chances to put your weapons to work in some areas of the forsaken desert kingdom than ever before (read: echo went mad with power and doubled the number of Subaq and Mau spawns - it's not much, but it's honest work).

Postponed Content

Now the less ideal news; we realised we weren't going to be getting an interactive Drake or Naga into this update without pulling a serious amount of crunch (and even then it would be devoid of it's lead-in quest).

We've previously had a habit of working right upto (and including) Christmas day and honestly we decided that we needed to ease off a little this year. Kids won't stay small forever and some of ours don't have many years left where it's quite as magic; we didn't want to sacrifice that to push out half-baked content. I hope everyone understands and it's not too much of a letdown that you'll have to wait a little longer to get your hands on the Naga and Drake.

Upcoming Content

We've also continued to detail the world in preparation for the Q1 quests, with very different new enemy types planned as well as some very exciting new dungeons. Anubites get their main quest next, along with some more side-quests and non-faction storylines to explore.

For those into submission, player slavery is also coming soon, along with the second phase of capture/break slave mechanics. There are more gameplay related additions including a plethora of traps and dangers which we're implemented too, so there will be far more challenges to face as you explore in search of ever greater rewards.

Like usual, please don't request Patreon builds for this thread - they have protections on them that, without being bypassed, require sharing compromising information about a Patreon account in order to make shared builds playable. A Steam equivalent to this build should become available within the next few days, at which point someone can request that via the game requests subforum.

Another vapid update... :sleep:
If a few new quests and a new joinable faction aren't stimulating for you, I suspect this may just not be the game for you.

Within the last month we've seen three updates adding multiple new quests, a variety of new sex scenes, several new dungeons, and quite a bit of new mapping and detail work. (Plus, so many new bugs. Always new bugs, with these devs.)

They're actually delivering new content for once rather than going radio silent for three months only to announce a delay on Discord and finally share the new major build a month after it was supposed to be out. Are the updates smaller than their major content builds? Yes, absolutely. That's what happen when you break big things (aka three months of dev time) into small pieces (aka a couple of weeks of development time).

And, frankly? I don't begrudge them wanting a break on the week of Christmas.

They keep adding random scenes, quests, and parts of the storyline here and there, instead of focusing on the game mechanics first of all.

As a result, everything is done haphazardly, in a half-assed way, be it "DSS" (a joke), or slavery system (started then postponed), or pregnancy content (seems forgotten), and so on.

Just think of it: they prefer to design each sex scene separately, assigning only one fixed position to it, without free camera in most cases (while free cam has always been in all UE games by default), without spectacular cumshots/creampies, etc.

At the same time, they tend to occasionally put the cart before the horse. In the UE4 version they announced crafting, weapon refining, artificial insemination, and whatnot. Now we don't see any of that, yet we've got fishing... (Seriously, I can't think of a more stupid thing in a PC game than fishing, but that's just me.)

tbh, not the response I was expecting. Most people who complain are just mad that they don't have more sex scenes or a gallery mode.

Honestly? I don't want them to touch the game mechanics. Anything they try to do something more complicated than "play a line of dialogue" they manage to fuck it up somehow, and sometimes they even screw up the dialogue because they don't do any QA and don't seem to have any programmers. I can't see them messing with the combat without breaking things. For example, every time they messed with combat in UE4 they managed to introduce crashes, twice with the exact same "oops, we forgot to assign an animation to jump + weapon usage" mistake.

That isn't to say I wouldn't be thrilled if they improved those. Just to say that I've been following this project for years and they have given me every reason to believe they can't be trusted to improve them successfully.

Fantastic question, to which the answer should be in the changelog that we haven't been provided. A cursory inspection of today's chatter on the discord seems to indicate that one of the two new DSS2 scenes does involve the inquisitors of bast. As for their leader? No idea, probably not. I imagine that will take more quests we've not seen yet.

And again all roads lead to one point, they don't have a single programmer.

Suddenly it almost sounds like you don't have faith in this project. Sooner or later they will have to face all the problems and it seems that Youtube UE tutorials are not enough.

Oh, I have faith in them. I firmly believe that if it involves QA and/or programming, that they'll find a way to do it wrong and then leave it unfixed for months at a time as users file multiple reports about the issue in their Discord. I can trust them to spend that time adding thousands of new little details to the map, then build a dungeon that players will get lost and stuck in because they don't really get the user experience side of map design. Oh, and maybe they'll implement a new character skin or a slightly different version of one of the weapons we already have.

And eventually, we'll get new quests to break, new scenes to lock ourselves out of, and new characters who ignore existing mechanics that the developers forgot they'd implemented.
