Bad news. Steam is being strict about the content on their store and they banned Poring from putting CoT there. I don't understand why since his other game has some loli characters and it's there. I don't know what he will do, but let's all hope for the best, since he's saying that losing the steam store sale will be a significant punch in the guts in terms of benefits. He doesn't want to make his game a big tits heaven, he wants to make it unique, so this is a bad situation he's in. We can only wait and see what Poring does, I don't think he will stop producing the game nor changing the content, but this is bad. He can't put the game on steam anymore. I'm really pissed off right now.

Maybe releasing it on dlsite with updates if needed could be a solution ?

Sales on dlsite don't match the sales on steam, he needs to think about what he's going to do. The game was going to be released on dlsite too, but releasing it only there means a lot less benefits.

Sadly that does not surprise me since Steam is currently purging a lot of H-Content from the shop. Not just explicit H-Games but also a lot of Fanservice games. It's very frustrating since they are really flexible on what is allowed and what not, considering all the Eroge that remains available on Steam.

Maybe Humble is another option? Of course not as big as Steam, but I guess every little bit can help?

He will try to talk to steam staff first. If that doesn't work he needs to think.

Rly? I think they purging only "games" that are basicaly puzzles for retarded kids with naked stolen anime pic in the end. I always get 1-2 "adult"/"sexual content" games in my discovery quene, some of them even with uncensored screenshots.

Well, it pains for me to say this but, if steam support doesn't give a clear answer to Poring, game will probably die after the chapel is done. Poring needs to think about a lot of things right now but yeah, it depends on steam.

Its not just Steam that is censoring Adult content, Mastercard is having alot of pressure applied by activist organizations to deny service to adult services, thats why Onlyfans was going to remove all adult content, its also why Pornhub had to purge 80% of their content. This has been going on for a while and i wouldn't be surprised at all if Steam is starting to deny this content to appease Mastercard and who ever is pressuring them.

Bud I appreciate your cander but I simply do not understand what you mean. Some punctuation or something may be a bit more useful but my crux of the issues is the "The lab key first you need had finished the 3 routes after that you need go behind the other off robot to click to open a portal , ". From what you say I should be able to finish three routes and have the boss fight incoming before attempting to move into the room(The one past all three portals) with the dead powered robot and the dead portal, to then"Click open a portal". There is no portal to be clicked opened, there is not special interaction behind the dead robot.

I do not understand.

It was a good ride, I just hope this doesn't bring him down and he rises from his ashes like a phoenix with another game he loves and is Steam-friendly

This is horrible news. I really hope Steam allows the game to get shared there.

It is disturbing what Visa and Mastercard have been doing. I really hope Bitcoin continues to catch on. Hopefully this will motivate more people to start using it.

Nope, they already denied him his appeal. According to other people who've gotten 'Banned' status after submitting their game, there nothing they can do.

The currency type isn't the problem, the game isn't illegal where he wants it to be sold, its just that Steam doesn't want to be associated with the content in his game, according to Poring, he only submitted the first level for review, which means that the reviewer had a problem with the imps which is pretty ridiculous since its the same character in his first game that is currently on Steam right now.

Steam is the platform where Poring can get the most exposure, its where he has the most profit potential and where he doesn't have to censor his art, despite the fact that hes making some pretty good money on Patreon at the very least, I'm sure he wants to grow his business by adding more fans. The Dlsite cut is gigantic, and for the past two months since he completed Forbidden Lab hes done nothing but prepare for the Steam launch, even ordering custom art for it.

I've been following Poring closer than pretty much anyone else and last night he was saying and i quote that its "not a matter of whether the game is dead at this point, its a matter of how i'm going to bury it." Hes also expressed frustration and disappointment that he won't able to make a game within the full scope of his creativity, having to neuter the game to ensure that it gets approved for Steam next time.

We have the political pressure applied by neo-puritan types to thank for this and all of the other bullshit censorship thats been happening lately on all the aforementioned platforms.

Steam has no idea what they're doing with porn games and it would not surprise me in the least that they're bowing to Mastercard/Visa, I am only infuriated by their stifling of some badass games like this one here. :(

Disclaimer: This gets quite ranty (and probably controversial), so buckle up or stop reading.
I really hope Poring can get the game on Steam. This is one of my favourite hentai games and shows a lot of quality. One thing I've seen a few hentai games do, to get accepted on Steam, is cut out the "offending" content and just offer it seperately (also often outside of steam) as an uncensor patch. Of course that necessitates Steam support being cooperative enough to say what exactly prevents the game from "meeting Steam standards".
Overall I have to say that Steam has become pretty disappointing in terms of their game selection over the years, there are countless absolute shitshows being published there as games every day. From scammy, cheap asset flips over games literally built with almost exclusively stolen assets to barely or just non-functional games. So with that apparent lack of quality control it seems pretty ridiculous for this game to be denied. I really hope Steam get their shit together and work something out with poring.

-This part gets extra ranty and controversial, so be warned.
About the porn purge that is going on (especially against loli hentai), in my humble opinion this is just some conservative hypocrisy bullshit again. Pretty similar to the violent video games debates, it's again all about using an actual serious problem to try and nuke something that isn't really the problem and is just more of a personal crusade. With video games it was mental illnesses and trying (and failing) to nuke video games instead of admitting that society has a problem with caring for peoples mental health; with porn the leading argument I've seen is child pornography and admittedly there was apparently some of that shit on pornhub, but that was never a prime place for that to spread. It's like nuking an entire city because a handful of the buildings there have been used for really bad stuff like human trafficking. Actions like this don't really hit the people it should be aimed at much, but everyone else gets hit pretty hard. Pornhub has become completely irrelevant to me after the purge, because all the stuff I liked is gone and I can't find anything similar on that site. Discord NSFW servers constantly struggle with the question "is it loli or is it ok?", many servers just establish their own (and often very different) rules for it and spark pretty much constant debates when they get enforced; a lot of loli stuff has effectively just had the tag removed but still exists on sites where you get 0 results when searching for loli.
All because actually hunting down the producers of child pornography and establishing better protection systems for children is too much work and wouldn't get quick results. On that note, let's remember the FBI taking over and keeping a child pornography site on the dark web (namely Playpen, you can look it up on wikipedia and news sites) up and running to catch the visitors with rather mixed results and some critics of that operation even saying they purposefully increased traffic by improving the site.
I think part of the problem is the absolute, sheer and unbridled hatred that pedophiles face (sure, I don't know if I could control myself either, if I was talking to someone who might rape my kids or their friends one day), because that means pedophiles are by default outcasts and have to keep their sexuality hidden under all circumstances. So seeking help to control their urges is out of the question out of fear of getting shunned by society or worse. Despite it being recognized as a psychiatric disorder aka a mental illness and not a choice or something. Just like no school shooter just chooses to kill people and instead is being driven there by their deteriorating mental state and the lack of help for it they receive.

OK, rant over. Mods (in case any stumble upon this), I stand by what I said above, but I respect that this might not be the place for such takes. So if I spark some fierce off-topic debate here or something, I'm OK with removing this post in the interest of keeping this a decent place. And to everyone else, I am open for debate but keep it civil and on-topic if possible, if not let's take it somewhere else.

About 4 years ago they said that 'Anything goes unless its illegal'. Since then they've cracked down on things that are legal in some countries and illegal in others. Did you know that the UN recommended banning loli in 2019 and only Japan offered strong disapproval? The US basically said theres nothing they could do about it (due to free speech), nobody else seemed to mind. There are certain countries where it is explicitly banned and certain states in the US where it is explicitly permitted, but with activist organizations pressuring credit card companies to reject porn transactions for the children and shit.

Wow, I just read that discussion on Merumeru-chans post and holy shit. So far I thought OK, Steam is allowing some more basic and vanilla porn and other porn games under certain circumstances or just when they miss certain more risky content in reviewing those games. But from that discussion it sounds like the best way to deal with steam is to make like one harmless chapter that has vanilla scenes with rather modest nudity then submitting that and when it gets approved you put in all the rest of the game via patches. So some hardcore, fetish-focused NTR game would just need a short and sweet start and then it could go crazy pretty much. While presenting even a comparatively tame scene (like the 1st chapter in CoT is compared to some of the later stuff, but apparently the imps are still too risky for steam) from the actual bulk of the game would not get it accepted. Basically they encourage devs lying to them about their game.

Allow me to uh, "translate" I guess would be the wording. After you finish three levels within the forbidden lab, the boss portal will open up. Instead of going into the boss portal, move to the right and on to the next screen. On that screen, jump onto the small stool and you should find a button to press on it. Afterwards, go through said portal. Have sex with the girl in front and cum in her, then go to the far right and find the prompt to kick the table over. By doing that, you should get a battery. Go back through the portal and put the battery into the deactivated robot. Talk to her and the portal you came back through should gain a new color. Go through that and congratulations, you've got the key.

That's really horrible. I really like Castle of Temptation, even more than Super Monsters 'n Girls or Forest of the Blue Skin. Might not have as many H-Scenes but it looks a lot more polished in terms of gameplay and graphics. Although I can fully relate that this has been super disappointing news for Poring. I just hope he can still keep going doing the things he likes and maybe have a good living doing so. But hey, if we get the Chapel at least, that's still really cool and I look forward to that level! With each level having raised the quality so far, I'm really hyped for it! :)

I talked with Poring and he told me that hes currently 'measuring' the situation, he knows that if he starts from scratch hes probably going to lose subs on patreon which is a steady source of income for him atm, but losing Steam was expected the biggest chunk of change by far, i'd imagine that everything hes done up until this point was getting ready for a Steam release.

I personally think a major factor here as well is that Poring is not Japanese and Non-japanese titles on Dlsite usually don't do as well, even if its a good game the style is not typical of a Japanese game and even in the case of a great H-game like Shrift, your game may not sell very well.

I think Poring is a smart, hes not just a developer whose in it as a hobby, he wants to maximize the profitability of his talents and Steam's restrictions put a huge roadblock in his way of doing that, unfortunately, nothing else comes close so his next work, if he chooses to abandon this one, will have to be sterilized to easily bypass the restrictions set forth by Steam.

I have to reiterate how fucking ridiculous it was to be BANNED for something like the Imp, alot of other devs get a warning and told to get it out of their game or at least create an offsite patch with a completely empty initial game file loaded to steam. In this case? Nope. Death Penalty right out of the gate. It makes me wonder whether there were other factors in play, such as the fact that hes making this content in Taiwan and that hes (at least partially) marketing to a Chinese-speaking audience -- Yes, i will go there, Steam has banned games from Taiwan before for little reason other than that they offended China.
