For the most part I disagree, but then again I like a good slow burn in my stories.I feel like Philly Games storytelling skills in this particular game is a little off. It has this kind of dragged on feel to it which sometimes tiring to read. I think he should work on his storytelling tempo a little bit, right now it just doesn't feel exciting or interesting to read all that words. Gotta give credits to his beautiful renders and animations though. Hats off.
I think the game is paced pretty well: slow opening as we roll out the plot and introduce the main players, rising tension as we lead into conflicts, intense (if brief) action during those conflicts, then a lull as we take in the new situation afterwards. It's not always perfect, but I feel it does a great job of keeping my engagement without becoming boring - or worse, overhyping every little thing until the buildup is so large nothing could ever hope to pay it off.
That said, I do feel Chapter 7 was caught in something of an uncanny valley, narrative-wise. On the one hand, Gloria's departure and the mission to infiltrate Barnard Medical are big deals that should call for a weighty atmosphere. But on the other hand, this is effectively just a side-quest to move a few pieces around the board and our heroes face no meaningful opposition. That calls for a lighter tone to cleanse the pallet before the real confrontation.
I don't think the game quite threads the needle between those competing demands. The result is that (IMHO) the hospital rescue feels like filler and the lead-in to the upcoming showdown feels tacked on rather than growing organically out of events up to that point. Which is a shame and it's the first real misstep in the story so far.
But I'm still eager to see the next chapter, so I think Philly must be doing something right.
Speaking of which...
Cool image. As far as the update, I feel like the situation is about the same as last week: we're in the home stretch, but still a ways from the actual finish line.

Dev Update #64
Well, I think crunch time is now upon us
This week I was focused on writing primarily with just adding a few new pick up shots, animations, and a couple animation fixes, so not that much has changed on that front.
I suspect it will be around 1000 renders and a bit over 60 animations when is all said and done. I still have a good deal on the writing side to do but hopefully I can get it ready for proof around next weekend then do the rest of the heavy lifting on the render and animation front while that is happening.
I also plan on setting up this months poll for customs this week. Still need to decide on some ideas for that though
A long road on this one but we are getting close
As always guys, stay awesome!
