The game started well as a pretty interesting VN (minus the annoying mini-games) with quality renders and the story.
Time for cashing in on the starting success has unfortunately passed - should have been done within a month of the initial release.
Artistic freedom, vision and vanity are the usual hindrance with every artist who thinks his genius is above other mere mortals.
Been there, done that and learned that humility is way better then arrogance if you want to succeed.

Next release, if it happens, will be a 2nd chance to try and do it right.
I know developers are not experts in marketing so maybe find a friend who can help you when the time comes?

The first update was two months after the release.
with every artist who thinks his genius is above other mere mortals.
Good thing I don't think so.

if you want to succeed.
Too many groundless assumptions. I want to do what I like. Success isn't important.
can help you
And he will tell me, "Do an updates more often"?
I already know about that. =)

Are they?
This answer of yours speaks to the contrary.

Looks like you still haven't surpassed the initial artist vanity and arrogance phase.

Wake up and smell the roses - you are not Picasso - you are a developer of a small and insignificant indie porn game.
If you want to make a name for yourself maybe you should rethink your approach and demeanor.

Success is not important - true, if you are doing this game to prove to yourself you can do it and it's your final goal then you are right, it's not important - you will be forgotten like hundreds of others but you will get the bragging rights to say you developed a small indie porn game. It went to shit, barely anyone knew about it - but you did it.

Good for you. Wish you luck.

Nah. IMHO, the concept of marketing issues is irrelevant here, because there can't be issues if there aren't objectives in the first place. All marketers know that the very first thing to do is to set your goals in terms of income, business model, business plan, etc... So, as someone who works in this field, I agree with you at 100%

Yes, I am.
you want to make a name for yourself
Nope.
if you are doing this game to prove to yourself
I do it because I enjoy the process. =)

We'll all be forgotten, one way or another.

Mhmhm. I think your post tells more about you than it does about me.

Good luck to you, too. ;)

Stop bothering ttll please :D Let him work instead of answering infinite amount of questions and advices. It's great that everyone here is psychologist, manager, creator, elf, billionaire and just good friend and mentor. But, please, keep your opinion for yourselfes. Creator is doing his job, he is a grown man, he can decide for himself how to do his job. If he doesn't google is open for him. Telling him obvious things like "Be a honest man, son. Don't be a fraud"... Wow... Really? Who the f... do you think you are? Who the f... do you think he is? A child? Please stop involving him into useless conversations. If you wish to support him, if you want to help, if you want to criticise - go on. But stop that blah-blah-blah about good and bad guys. He hasn't deserved that. And i hope he never will.

Nah, I'm not good at trolling - if I were my post would have been a nasty one.

Obviously I made a mistake by expecting a more thought out response from the game developer then "success is not important".

I did not say anything bad about the game - on the contrary, I said it was good and I just tried to guess why it was falling into oblivion.
If that makes me the troll so be it.

I thought about that question long before you asked it.
I have enough time for that while I was doing the first episode for 13 months.
And if you think it was an easy decision, you're wrong.
Only because of my answer, which you didn't like so much, you're here and discuss this game.
game developer
I don't think about myself that way. "I'm a game developer!" Nah, I'm just a "regular everyday normal motherfucker" who does what he likes and hopes that there will be people who enjoy it. If not... well, that happens.

The point is, I'll keep working, no matter how "successful" the game is.
