I know this is a joke, but what's the possibility she just wore the ring to beg people off from approaching her to form a relationship by pretending to be married?
It's kind of funny as I've been following this series since it was first released, but was waiting until we got a sex scene with Lora to pick it up as I've been burned by series that ended prematurely as well as finding it difficult to remember story details in the months between updates.
But if Lora abandoned you for years to work as a whore and then go off to marry someone after kicking you out of her life, she's been effectively character assassinated. Amusingly enough, despite waiting all this time to play the game for Lora, this development would kill any interest I'd been fostering for the story. Like ironically it'll be an update that ruins this game for me, not the sheer lack of them.

Nah, she remarried for money or protection. She visits her son after she hasn't talked to him in 7y IIRC, why should she flaunt that shit in his face and risk pissing him off and hating her more ?? Ok, she could do that to show the bois who are interested in fucking her that she married, but there's no point in showing the ring to her son, especially after what she did to him.
Yeah, that would be really disappointing, don't think anyone would bother to forgive her. She's the most important character in the game, the story revolves around her and the MC, throwing her under the bus without a good explanation would be the equivalent of pressing that sweet, forbidden self-destruct button.
What's her motive for doing it ?? Did she think that a single mom with two kids, no place of her own and bills to pay could make bank by being a photographer ?? That obviously was a stupid idea... the MC recalls that she became a secretary for a company, and started going on "business trips"... maybe in one of those business trips she started doing "extra work" for her boss, or met the rich dude whom she later married, but that still doesn't justify her actions.
Funny thing is that every possibility in this scenario leads to Lora becoming a detestable character (if she became a stripper/escort) or a really shitty mother for abandoning and not talking to her son (both kids ??) for a long time. Taylor said that she stopped talking to her too after a while, so that's another concerning fact... why would she cut off all contact with the ppl close to her if she wasn't involved in something risky/shady ?? I hope ttll won't pull the secret agent shit on us coz that would be lazy writing 101.
It's strongly implied that she became an escort or at least did something risky that could put her kids in danger. No sane woman would marry an abusive motherfucker for his money without giving a flying fuck about her kids' well-being.
There's not much left for us to do but wait for that update, and see if it sheds some light on Lora's character.

Presuming your drivers are up-to-date and so, can you full-screen play other similar renpy games on your laptop?
Have you tried City of Broken Dreamers perhaps, for example?
Renpy games usually arent that gpu-demanding, and could be played even on older laptops/gpus than the one you have is.
The problem could be if you have two gpu-s or so, in that case try to switch among them.
