Thank you, it means a lot. Both actually. It’s always been in me to draw and create. I said I’d like to make an independent career out of it and as far as I can see VNs tend to see a greater following thank grapic novels/comics etc. But I think I gravitate to graphic novels more, more specifically digital.ChainZero You mentioned on Patron that your dream is really to create graphic novels by drawing the art yourself, rather than use 3D assets with Daz or similar. I wish you all the best in working to pursue this. I know its in the future, but are you thinking you want to make 2D VNs like some of the ones here, or are you thinking more graphic novels in book and/or digital form? If you are thinking about 2D VNs, are there any that are currently out that that have inspired you?
I don’t play a whole lot of 2D VNs cause I’m usually very picky when it comes to 2D artsyles. I’ve played Taffy Tales briefly and the art is great but it’s not my personal favorite. It’s not really a style I gravitate towards. Very detailed designs and colors but the character anatomy is too stylized for me in a way that I don’t like. Again, picky.
Summertime Saga is probably the most popular one and I played that a few times. I like the art way more there. It’s simpler and I like simple. The faces aren’t my favorite but I think that’s my goto 2D game.
I’ve seen Good Girl Gone Bad but never played it because I personally don’t like the art at all, not that it’s bad but it just looks too “traced” for my taste and it’s not stylized enough.
S.H.E.L.T.E.R. is another one I’ve played recently. Not my favorite art style by any means but the sex scenes are so passionately drawn they make my erections hurt lol.
Followed by numerous hentai VNs like Marina’s Cuckold Report and Relaxation Yuubi and yeah, there’s a whole lot I look at. But those 2 I just listed have my favorite art style by my favorite hentai VN artist “Gentle Sasaki”. His art style is perfect to me. Followed up by probably the most imfamous hentai game ever Starless drawn by Sei Shoujo who is my second favorite artist (minus the scat, gore and other things)
I can go on and on lol. On the comic side, I look no further than Melkor Mancin for inspiration which is crazy cause 4 or 5 years ago I liked his art but it never stood out to me like it does now. Simply breathtaking work he does. There are others aside from him though that I look at.
But I also take a lot of inspiration from plenty of manga and manhwa out there. You only asked about VN inspirations so I won’t make this longer than it probably already is but you get the point lol. I have plenty I go to and they all have this style that I really like. A style that stays true to human anatomy but is stylized enough to look unique. There are exceptions to the rule, but don’t get me talkin on that lol we’d be here forever.
