No one can know for sure about validity/non-validity of devs behavior, the beauty of net.
Due to a lot? of "elite" devs (gumdrop, icstor, veqvil etc) behaving in such "casual" manner, there are smaller, or even novice, devs taking the same approach at some time.
Imo that is the main problem, behind any particular case - when this game-developing-patreon job becomes a perfect milking opportunity for those lucky/canny enough..and all under cover of "free support", and similar things (go-fund-me can only envy those "artists")...If that trend continues ("free willed" supporters hooked to/funding numerous lazy/manipulating devs) those few hardworking devs probably will become extinct species soon enough.
Yet, to not go OT, I do hope dev of this promising game is well, and that he will post anything soon enough, just to clear things up...If not (and if he continue to use patreon "benefits"), in my book he is a small-scale milker exploiting a bunch of shee...free-willed patrons, unfortunately.

You go ahead and believe that every developer out there is just trying to gouge and milk people for money. I don't really care - as in I don't care what you believe and I don't care if any developer strings people along. I can and do stop supporting developers when I am not satisfied with what they deliver. Being an asshole has yet to solve anything, I've got a lot of experience being an asshole so I should know...
That said I have no reason to not believe CZ and yet I have already withdrawn my support, of course it was a yearly payment but it will not be renewing. Just because I'd like to believe people aren't assholes like me doesn't mean I trust them not to be.

I totally agree with you that radio silence is never good and that a message takes 30 seconds. Having said that, I think everybody can agree that sometimes you have situations that simply do not allow you to even think about other issues. A family member dealing with potential cancer applies as one of those situations in my book.
If anything, this is a matter of reputation. If you claim that you have such an issue every single month I will not believe it. You know, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice bla bla bla. But I am willing to give everyone the benefit of doubt at least once, as it is the very minimum I would like people to give me.
For now people can only hope and wait.

That's a huge stretch though. Do you seriously think he's sitting and doing nothing but worrying for almost 2 months now? I understand that he probably can't work on the game right now, that's fair. But in the same post describing the "potential" cancer threat he's saying that he can't pause the payments because that is his only source of income.
Now i know it's not the same thing but under those circumstances, you should atleast let your boss know that you'll be taking a few days off.
Seeing as he is his own boss I am sure he's communicating very well with himself.
Patreon =/= a job, nor are his patrons his bosses. Patrons are customers who can "walk" away whenever they want.

Because in reality, it's more like being a panhandler or a beggar.
But i'm not trying to convince anybody to stop giving him money or anything. All i'm saying is that he's it's pretty fucking weird to go 2 months without saying a word, especially for a guy like him who was never shy about anything and always kept us well informed.

My answer is already included in the comment you answered back to: benefit of doubt. As simple as that. Which to be honest is worth nothing coming from me as I am not supporting him, though.
About the "it only takes 30 seconds" I gotta say I'm sure there are more factors playing a role in the decision making here. It's rarely about the actual physical act of sitting down and typing a couple words. He might not know what to tell us. He might be scared of dissapointing everyone. He might simply not want to face this obstacle right now. He might have his mind somewhere far away from a silly game. Point is, we don't know and we should not presume to know and spin up stories or judge him. There are plenty of other porn games out there deserving a shot. So just leave the Dev in peace, unsubscribe and be pleasently surprised should he resurface.
Exactly, it’s been a month since we heard from him on Patreon. If he doesn’t come back then we add this game to the very long list of abandoned games. No one should feel compelled to support him financially nor continue to follow the game. Regardless I wish him the best.

I think the dev put himself in trouble wanting a revamp on a game that it was already really good and one of the most potential around here. I imagine he could be frustrated with the results and wanting some time to clear his mind. I'm optimistic that he will be back in some time

Say or think whatever you want but the truth is that you're a game developer, you had the update ready, you gave a date for the release but did not felt the need to upload it cuz' you had health or family problems, Ok I understand you but if he could have just gave a debrief about the situation and much needed information regarding to it, if not here then over at the patreon for your supporters then I'm sure we all would not have been here arguing over game delay or knowing nothing regarding the situation.
Since he frequently comes around here and interacts with the people here, all it needed was a confirmation from him about it and it would have been alright. Surely you can manage 2-3 min to write something over incase something bad is going on.

We don't know yes. That is no excuse tho. I work with people who wanna lose weight giving them advice, meal plans etc. etc. When my grandmother died, I said hey guys I won't be able to support you for a while because of this and that so please hang on for a while. As was said earlier unless he died, there is no excuse to disrespect the people who support him. And it would be fine if he was a day or two late with the response or even a week but it's been a lot longer than that.
I haven't been following this, but when i played this game it had a very good start. There's no need to change anything and re do this at all. What a waste of the months working on the release only to scrap it...
