2020 called and wants the premise back, because seven updates in,
we should be looking for a conclusion, not wallow in the prologue:
Dev set up for this game:
Why does this game evoke a different Edward to the MC? well, if we dive a little into the game play, we can find some truths in the matter.
The name of the MC, the nonsensical incredible Elsa introduction, the absurd (even by tyler durded standards) rise of Elsa and Alice into their positions of slave drivers to MC and wallowing in their nefound glory to have such a devoted simpleton groveling personal assistent in MC - nonthreatening, lifeless, goalless, inadequate social outcast of a male antihero sorely deconstructed supporting undercharacter. These all point to a very credible inspiration from a way better story and movie that got world wide acclamation already.

Trouble of being stuck in a game where MC is constantly back under the crushing hooves of both Alice and Elsa every damn update is the feeling of everything not making much sense in the grand scheme of things. Wanting this game to move forward and actually play to the premise of 2020 is keeping a lot of players around .. hope never dies, nor does it beat you over the head with what could, would or should have been.
The only available choices lead to failure, fair enough different degree of failure, but still failure, which in turns unlock yet more opportunities for him to be treated as an idiot (which he is) by Elsa.
This is what goes on when you cannot write antihero at all: John Constantine, Neo, Hulk, Batman, Superman - they all have their recurring plot armored vilains just like Elsa or Alice with Joker, Luthor, Lucifer/son of lucifer/ scorned angel, Banner or his dad or the red hulk or his girlfriend father - they all have vilains that keep trashing them left and right, but they always inch closer and closer to their goal of bettering themselves - but this game keeps dumping on MC hard every update and there is no incremental upside to his struggle, despite him employing some of his self help techniques rather successfully for very limited moments throughout the game.
Funny how this game brags about MC having read many self-help books, but his skills always stop at the few pages in the beginning of such books, when any self-help book out there in the world will teach the reader many techniques to stay away from Elsa and Alice all together and distance himself from his friend who always brings NTR vilains into his life - like the goons he knows from work that keep beating MC up and stealing the girls from right in front of MC.
