When Daliza asks you to get some workers to clean up the Wayfort, you are presented with two "response" options; ask for her advice, or just tell her you'll handle it. They both lead to the same bit of text where the PC asks for advice.

It seems that you got the broken patch. Some post before there's the hotfix. And yes it was supposed to be the new assets. But Savin went full retard and didn't added them before release so... Tee-hee~

Is it known if all this anti-cheat built into the game code is interfering with the coc2 team's ability to code aswell?

There's no anti-cheat unless you are talking about the save modification popup which is just a custom MD5 hash verification. The code is minified if that is what you are talking about, but that happens after the build process which would not affect the CoC2 coders.

I think it is just a case of inexperience. Good coders are hard to find.

Prostitution in a game with such free availability of sex just feels off when it was first introduced.

It feels like a low effort money sink. Gwyn's doesn't feel as off even though you are essentially paying money for sex. But you are also paying money to improve your children's living conditions, and improving the nursery. If I were to invest in the Hawkthorne brothel, it would be a regular business investment with returns. I'd want the PC to own majority or wholly the profits as well as be able to further invest into it to improve it.

In that case, the KM brothel would be a business competitor. Acquisition.

You also marry into power in many places in the game, plus the Wayfort, so I think it fits.

I remember Savin saying the Champion is not our character. They're the dev team's. Or something like that, he used Mass Effect as a reason so... yay, Mass Effect doesn't ruin just CRPGs* with its legacy but porn too.

*I remember when CRPGs actually had fucking choice and your character was your own, didn't need voice acting to limit you. I'm a grumpy old man, leave me alone.

Let's consider 3 approaches:

1. Write the champion as a character with a few options sprinkled about to explore the champion's character.
   1. Goal: The champion is not the player's character, but the champion keeps the player engaged because they are a well written character. Arguably, they should be the BEST written character, with the most time placed into getting them right. This is because they are by nature of being controlled by the player going to be the most interacted with. They connect us to the world and allow us to care about it through them.
   2. The game is about understanding the champion through choice.
2. Write the champion with branching dialogue paths in mind.
   1. Goal: The champion is molded by what the player is role playing as. It won't always line up one to one with what the player thinks should be said, but it fits well enough in the limitation of the game medium.
   2. The game is about choice itself.
3. The champion has multiple personality disorder dependent on which writer is writing for them.
   1. No consistency is maintained except for vague notions of the champion having one or two adjectives describing them. The companions now become the first line of characterization.
   2. Goal: Lower the barrier to entry for community submissions and do minimum work possible as an editor.
   3. The game is about the companions.

Unfortunately, they decided to instead give parts of 1 to Cait and 3 to the champion.

If they went with 1 I don't think it would take away from sex scene variety either. IMO you could easily explain it by the champion really liking role play. Being dom/sub, masculine/feminine coded words, etc in scenes is all the champion playing an act that they think their partner likes.

You would then have to maintain personality/ideals in normal dialogue though, which the current 3 system does not. The champion should have a cultural background as well which informs how they act. For example, I find they are much too passive when dealing with Kiyoko/Kinu. A kitsune husband might act like this, but I don't see why the champion would.

This could be the best way to make immersive the game, as well a way to make quick cash. Indeed a good idea.

CoC mainly is a story by choice, where you choices can affect how the story develops (something that Savin NEVER would capitalize)

Black mage. Once you get up to lvl 4 you can do a good deal of damage if you build your stats correctly.
If you go with companions White mage is your better option.

Even if you choose to take Keros up on his offer, you're still going to be barraged with (overly polite) statements about how even though you bear the physical form, you're not really a kitsune. Sometimes even by Kiyoko and Kinu themselves, which is one of many pet peeves I have about that entire debacle.

It feels like the dev is genuinely afraid of giving the players more options/choices. I mean, if the guy wanted to make a private game to suit his personal kinks and no one else's, he could have, there was no need for any of this to happen. Although then he wouldn't be able to milk patreon, I suppose.

One would think that being the champion of the land, being favored by not just their head matriarch and clan head but also their god, saviour of their actual clan head, and ultimately becoming so kitsune that you could easily seek audience with Keros and be kinky with him, would lead to gaining a bit more than an ounce of respect from these people but I guess not.

You do realize your messages were removed because you replied to someone who's messages were removed? As in, the person who was low effort trolling was removed and you had replied to them. That is what "thread cleanup from upstream posts mean". The upstream post is who you replied to. The mods don't want to leave behind replies to rule violating posts.

The trolling one I think I only gave about 3 - 5 replies and that's pretty much it but I've had a lotta purges before I started showing the notifs.

Not all o' the messages that were purged was from me replying.

I've been reading the more recent posts in this thread out of a masochistic curiosity, and between the hate for Cait, the new phoenix companion (the game has too many companions as it is, and only 3 of them offer any form of combat benefit, one of which is Cait), and this kitsune shit, it's been a ride. Oh, and the fact that, despite YEARS AGO addressing how fucked the code with CoC was (hence a lot of Fen's reluctance to finish CoC at all), they have learned FUCKING NOTHING. I feel like someone should mod (and adjust for context) the Champion gathering all his companions/waifus/etc into a room and doing this to them:

One of the things that bugs me still (aside harpy matron not having a fight coded, even though she was quite literally the first hostile encounter of the first build.) is the cat harem you rescue from an abusive owner. Putting aside the trauma they all suffered and likely need to work through, it was jarring that not only are they capable fighters worthy of being your companions, but that there is basically no follow-up for them. What about making the trio into companions? What about giving them further development with respect to the shit they need to work through and make the champion symathetic to their recovery? Oh, right. It would mean catgirls that aren't Cait would get meaningful development and the champion would have a group of people that respect and appreciate them. Nope, can't have that shit.
