Honestly I've always gotten the vibe it was initially done as like a dig towards the more obnoxious "I'd be fully accepted in Japan because I watch anime"-style weeaboos by having the overtly Japanese characters be really xenophobic towards you especially with Nakano outright doing the "no matter what you do you'll never really be one of us" thing to you when you first talk to him.
Also I feel like airing some of my own grievances with the Kitsune stuff, like I really really fucking hate that their xenophobia and hierarchical structure is constantly portrayed as an inherent part of them as a species and not a cultural thing. It's just really fucked up when you think about it and actually justifies the way people in universe view the Kitsune because you'd never be able to trust them to not try to take over other cultures and it also perpetuates orientalist shit about Asian people being inherently collectivist and submissive to authority. And it kinda sucks because with the personality the default Kinu has(btw I can't be the only one who feels like everything post orb regarding Kinu is made with this personality in mind right?) could've actually had a lot of potential to actually address the xenophobia stuff, if she was made to not be xenophobic like the other Kitsune.
Like they could've had her and Kiyoko genuinely treat you as part of their community and never doing the "you aren't one of us and could also never understand us" bullshit to avoid actually dealing with stuff people might not agree with and having them talk about you as though they consider you part of their community. For example the festival events could be portrayed as Kiyoko genuinely wanting you to experience her culture rather than the way it currently is where it's implied she's doing it out of obligation. And all the events could've centered around dealing with the xenophobia with Kinu viewing you as part of their culture with no catches. But with Kiyoko it could've been that she has a "they're one of the good ones thing" mindset towards you with the conflict that led to their falling out being that during her childhood Kinu just refused to ever view her culture as superior to others and the resolution being her getting Kiyoko to start adopting the mindset Kinu has.
And also a big problem with The Observers stuff aside from being overly verbose is just that they really fucking suck at maintaining characterization and making changes in characterization believable also the constant lampshading of stuff like how they didn't bother to allow you to interact with your other named Kitsune children doesn't help either. Like there's obvious stuff like how Kiyoko acts like a slightly different person after being freed but there's also stuff like the PC being portrayed as decently perceptive and amazing at recognizing patterns(being able to learn things really easily just by seeing someone else do it) and yet they just go "oh I guess I was wrong then" when you confront Kohaku over her paper-thin catgirl disguise.
The Kohaku thing is clearly a joke, though.

Am I the only person who finds all of "interact with your child" stuff super out of place? Who is it even for? Are people playing CoC2 for the "uwu wholesome" interactions with your kids? First with Kinu (we all know how that ended up going) and now with the kid you have with Aileh, do people really care? Who is pushing for this shit in a PORN GAME? Maybe this is just my cold, unfeeling heart, but the writing in this game isn't anywhere near good enough to get me to care about the fictional child my character made with a giant demon/dragon girl.

It does not work as a joke considering we know she is a trader, we know kitsune aren't exactly liked and the disguise only works if you have never met her. SHe has no reason to hide it from us either.
That doesn't really work cause the champ has shown a willingness to learn and a willingness to help the kitsune and return Kiyoko to them. It would be one thing for Nakano to be like that at the start but as you help the den there should be the possibility of him warming up to you, you can still be an outsider but he knows treats you as a friend or comrade. Their are many edgy side characters throughout anime and media but they are typically allowed to have character growth with the MC if you are meant to give a shit at least. The majority of Kitsune being shits in a foreign land is a really bad idea, a "barbarian (you no metallurgy using yokai)" and his/her posse beat the shit out of several of your fighters, what do you think would happen if they were serious on driving you out?

Fair enough. Isn't really a good criticism of the game either way, although "DO WHAT I WANT" is really the main thing here for me. The game would be so much better if it just focused on making content that I like and only content that I like, what about that do the devs not understand???
