Just finished that Specter of the Wyld palace dungeon area. It was OK. But again, not a whole lot to it. At least when I went through it.

Unless I am missing something.

You gotta admit, it's pretty fucking funny. Give a man an echo chamber and money and he'll think he's Tolkien.
Oh yeah, it's some classic amateur author stuff lol. would not at all be surprised if the guy had a history writing fanfic previously, that sort of attitude is super reminiscent of fanfic drama to me.

The whole bit about postmodernism is something else though

One thing that drew me in to CoC 1 (picked up up when the mod had like... 500k follows/likes) was how full the world felt. Some parts smaller than others but each location felt decently to well filled. Dungeons were okay. CoCII despite some parts being fuller than others gives off a very empty feeling (I understand the game is only in 0.3.18). The Kitsune Den as the only location feeling as lively as CoC 1 did and realistically there isn't a whole lot content, but the way and interactions with characters makes it feel good enough.
Dude, don't compare "finished" game + expansion mod to v0.3.19 game.

CoC1 without expansion mod have a lot of unfinished content, even with the mod some parts are meh. While it's true that some areas in CoC2 are still pretty empty, i enjoy it more than CoC1 - i would guess that's mainly because of busts + better writing - and if a miracle happens and they actually fill the areas and expand events/characters I will even throw them up to 5 dollars as one-time "thanks".

And to each their own. If the game wasn't on Steam for sale you could say I would be more patient or wouldn't feel inclined to compare them, but since it is I don't see the harm in comparing them. Don't get me wrong, I understand the argument about not comparing an unfinished game to a [mostly] complete one (realistically COC1 and/or mod is/are still unfinished), but look at how long TiTS has been in development for and we're only in 0.8.115. I also understand that the dev team has changed and grown over the years too.

At the end of the day, I'm comparing story and content elements. Won't disagree that COC1 w/ or w/o the mod had a lot of unfinished content, but do you see why I'd compare the both to the current version of COC2? Sure the sequel has more financial backing, better art, GUI design, etc, but development / design wise the areas where updates go are all over the place - disorganized.

Doesn't matter, Steam/Patreon same shit with their early access so you could compare that to any other unfinished crap on this site and outside of it, at least Steam is a little more honest.

CoC1 was in development for around 7 years if i'm not mistaken, it ended with something around v0.8 when they gave up on it, slapped on it the final dungeon (v0.9) + bugfixes and called it v1.0. TiTs is around 7 years old too with 0.8 so similar pace.

At the end of the day, I'm comparing story and content elements [...] development / design wise the areas where updates go are all over the place - disorganized.
Don't worry, nothing changed there. CoC1 was disorganized mess too, with development all over the place, where some areas had a ton of content while others were neglected for years.

That's irrelevant, shitty writers are shitty.

My point is: nothing changed, crew got bigger, they have more funding and resources but it was more or less the same mess back with CoC1, TiTs and now CoC2.

I wish I hadn't read that lmao. Whatever inkling of respect I had for The Observer (as a writer) went straight down the toilet. He just sounds so damn pretentious in his responses.
Just read through that whole thread, and MAN am I disappointed in Savin and The Observer. Not only locking a purely discussion-based thread about the role and intent of a character and their development, but also shutting it down and locking it after trying to do a shitty mic drop saying,

Savin: "No, but he is writing for a game under my complete creative control and I've said it's fine. So deal with it."

What the fuck is that?

Do they not realize people are paying for this shit? Like, if your paying fanbase is expressing distaste for a chunk of content that populated the past like 5 major updates, maybe you should listen to some of that feedback, instead of just letting the one author be a primadonna about it.

I don't know, I get that it's their project and writing, but there's an inherent goal with these games to create an inclusive and sexual world for people to play out a character in. It feels incredibly wrong for any character to force a gender role on your PC, and I say this as someone who likes to play masculine and male characters at times. It's probably just really jarring for a lot of people who are comfortable with the way the CoC world operates, to suddenly have that turned on its head.

And it's not like this is content that can't be ignored, but people were paying for the game during this development, and for awhile it was the only section getting consistent substantial updates, and that's not cool.

I just don't like that they shut the discussion down the way Savin and The Observer did. Feels immature.

This is the reason why some of us moved away from that forum to this forum instead. They can't shut our discussion on this thread.

It's almost like people have been complaining about this kind of attitude from Fen and Savin, for years.

While I don't think they should listen to every and all feedback, the one in that thread about Tob's content feeling out of place and then the (spot-on) critique of Tob's up-his-own-ass explanation for why his content is the way it is, is feedback that shouldn't just be shut down.

I think it's a knee-jerk reaction now because of how fans in the past have demanded things from the writers. So instead of allowing discussion, the writer basically chimes in yes or no and then they move on. But there's a huge difference between complaining about how you should be able to murder every male npc that isn't your player character vs wondering why the PC must be emphatically called "father" in Kinu/Kiyoko's content (when the PC can be as feminine as they want as long as they have a dick) and not allow other names that still invoke a parental role.

And yeah it's pretty much why I come HERE to vent about the things that annoy me or criticize aspects of the game, and have never bothered posting on fenoxo's forums.

I haven't played TiTS or COC2 in months, nearly a year at this point if I had to take a wild guess. With some free time I decided to see what I missed. TiTS always felt like a long read and I never fully got into the space setting. COC, for me, was king, so COC2 was the one I was excited for the most. In trying to find the latest version by skimming pages (been here long enough that OP's aren't updated all the time) I saw the shitshow link of The Observer. Man, that really sucks. Like, they definitely don't care that I won't play since I don't ever plan to financially support them (fen or others), they're doing much better than I am but I totally lost respect for them as writers.

Anyone able to put aside the team's shitty way of handling things and enjoy the game? Cause I don't think I can. From reading posts in the TiTS thread that the writing is all over the place in how the main char acts to now COC2 having writers who can't take legitimate criticism while acting like their writing is the greatest thing ever... not too sure if I want to play these games. I do want to see what I missed out on in that whole time.

I still enjoy it, wouldn't bother criticizing it if I thought it was completely irredeemable garbage not worth playing. It'd just join the illustrious recycle bin pile alongside the million other games that haven't been updated in a year or were made with rpg maker.

I wouldn't play it as an actual RPG, it's not the last sovereign or price for freedom, but for a text based porn game it's fine. The scenes are mostly all written competently and there's a good amount of content I like, or authors I consistently enjoy (in both tits and coc2). It's mostly all separate enough that you can just avoid the content you dislike, even if it doesn't fix the big gap in writing styles and quality.

Tits is worse that way because the overall handling of the game is just completely incompetent and way too reliant on "fetish character of the month", with nothing ever resolving or going anywhere, all your relationships cutting out half way, authors not being able to finish their content for whatever reason, planets with incoherent storylines, it's just a mess of a game in general atm. As obnoxious as some of the team for coc2 can be, at least they're able to make something that feels like you're not just blindly wandering from meaningless side quest to meaningless side quest.

Can always just make a corrupted character, have sex with like 90 imps and then continue to slut your way across the continent if you don't care about the characters at all, too.
Though you would have to have objectively awful taste and likely be a bad person irl if you don't like Brienne.

Nah, CoC2 is good. I don't really care about all the writers drama as long as it doesn't affect the game and so far the only part i really disliked was that kitsune wife (whatever her name was), part of new halloween event and kitsune den was a mixed bag, that amounts to really tiny part of the game overall.
Everything else is way above CoC1 standard, but the battle is a bit of a clusterfuck, especially at higher levels and just for that one reason CoC1 is better than CoC2 as battles take up around half of your playtime in both games, if they fixed that i would have no complains.

I'm replaying CoC1 with mods right now, it's a lot of fun but i miss many of CoC2 QoL changes.

TiTs was garbage from the beggining, first few locations were managable, but after that it all went downhill really fast in both gameplay and smut department.

It was fun and also it turns to angry lesbian sex later on.

Whats with that font though? It makes my eyes bleed
That's actually from my screen, its small so screenshots with words in them makes things look a bit pixelated
Did she really just say "filthy kurva"? Do western Slavic languages even exist in this universe?
honestly wouldn't be surprised, they do basically have japanese analogues with Kitsune's den. Would be great to meet some slavic monsters

I remember being really grossed out the first time I saw Savin blow up on somebody on the Fenoxo blog. I can't remember what it was over, but I remember it being something seemingly harmless, like, "When will x character get y content?" Savin said something he often says, "When you write it", the person replied that they don't have any interest in writing things, which is why they come to the site, and it's Savin's game anyway so he should be writing it, and Savin fucking eviscerated this guy, telling him to fuck off forever, as I've also seen him do many times since.

The first time I saw it, I was like "Hmph! That doesn't seem like an acceptable way to talk to your fans!" But the more I saw it happen, the more I looked at what they have to read on an average post. Nearly every comment is some variant of: "When is x (scene, character, or major plot point) going to happen?" "Y new scene should have had incest/gore/whatever kink I like." "When will character z, who was written 2 years ago and already has a bad end and content as your harem waifu, get more content?" And if you go back another week, you'll see the exact same comments with a different variable. There's almost some schadenfreude in imagining someone else having to read the same questions week after week, but imagining doing it yourself? That sounds like a hell loop.

For 10+ years these guys have been reading and responding to hundreds of comments a week, and the overwhelming majority of the comments aren't thoughtful criticisms or words of appreciation; they're, "Give this! Give!" I think The Observer's pretentiousness is just him being the cliche of a self-absorbed, emotionally-underdeveloped artist, but regarding his and Savin's negative responses: idk how long I'd be able to take the shit they put up with before I'd also snap and lose patience for even legitimate commentary. I still don't think the way they deal with it is at all desirable or healthy, but I sympathize with their frustration and just avoid the forum/comments on fenoxo.com.
