Honestly I see people complain about the NTR content in this game all the time but whenever I play it I barely ever see any content that doesn't involve the player. There's a decent amount of 3p or group scenes but barely anything that happens without the player's direct involvement.

On Cait, primary issue is they've wrote her very whiplash-y. When you start her interactions, shes not interested in a monogamous relationship, so no ntr (partner being stolen), just kind of accepting it's her actual religion to quite literally belongs to the streets. As her content's progressed though, they're really pushing her as a love interest/ ending option. Silly as the butt stuff is, you have a character that was saving an experience their life for someone special and can pick mc, story bonding moments like holding her when trying to rescue her sister, the options to thank her father for having her, the lovey scenes pre/post temple, her talking about how great the MC is and how eventually she'd like to remove her seal and have a kid with them.

It's easy for people uninterested in her banging everything to get mixed signals, and start seeing it as cucking or ntr fetish stuff when her and the MC are wrote so close but then she'll still use them as a living bed or run off down an alley with a wolf guy. People that like harem/pcsexual characters can feel misled or tricked. Her character is not only the village, but the world's, possibly the spirit realm's bicycle that wants to emotionally love, cuddle and kiss mc only basically. So you will get people saying "there's no ntr there" and people saying there is, depending on your view. She's a self proclaimed ho that seems to actually love only mc, says she's not interested in devoted relationships but is wrote as wanting a devoted relationship where she can just also bang whatever she wants.

"I don't see any ntr content" is just very subjective and what constitutes it to each person. There's 3somes with 2 characters focusing on PC, not really ntr, defeat scenes which really try to be but are optional and you can just altf4, 3 somes where PC bangs someone who bangs someone else, isn't usually wrote as making PC neglected or betrayed. there are various scenes that are sketchy to the player base like pre-optional etheryn/hashat, if you have a weird wayfort setup, think corrupted, think aileh can be ran a train on when you return, in the fine print and tobs novella it's insinuated kiyoko bangs random people to have extra energy to feed her kids, makes sense lore wise without killing PC but kind of overlooked ntr, basically any scene you choose to let cait bang someone else has the "you sure you want to watch them bang me?" Ntr dialogue. Azyrran/liaden content is "gender" locked and feels ntr-y, but you can be a full male that just gets max feminine appearance and still get access to it and bang her on your own.

Tldr, caits issue is, like the opposite of how wsan has tried to protect and maintain briennes image and appeal, savin wants Cait to be a ho AND also a wife. A nichell be fine with it but majority will think it's gross ntr. If brienne suddenly loved the temple and got upset if PC didn't let her get banged at random, same problems. You don't want ntr/free love in vanilla and don't expect vanilla in a ho temple or from ho pope.

I played one not that long ago where the main goal was the kind of degradation of a character to a degree I'm really not a fan of but has the ability to wrap to an end where everybody gets what they want in a way that I was ultimately satisfied with.

The truth is, definitions and categories always have been and always will be nebulous at best. While people might not agree on the nitty gritty details of what constitutes NTR or a roguelike, if you tell them something has NTR or is a roguelike, they'll know what to expect. I recently went back and played Deus Ex and was reminded of how retarded the name of that genre of games is: immersive sim. You'll never get a consensus if you decided to shrink the definition to its most minimalist "pure" form, always cast a wide net, unless you really enjoy just screaming into the void I guess.

The thing that supports my argument the best is this: the ones who come up with these definitions aren't linguisticians or scholars, they're coined by some influencial rando and adopted by the masses so by default it can't be as rigid as some people want it to be. There is no basis for it.

Recent example being the EtherynxArona threesome scenes that is just you getting sucked off while they're fucking each other and talking dirty to each other while you're ignored most of the time.

Now, if you just look at the google dictionary meaning, the word has been used properly. Except if you delve slightly below surface level, you'd be hard pressed to find this specific synonym of accept not used in extremely formal and political matters.

Obviously there's nothing wrong with busting out the thesaurus and fishing for synonyms to avoid repetitiveness in creative writing. I do it all the time. But by God, if it's a really obscure one, at least check examples of where and how it is typically used. There are some words that are mostly seen in politics but have some fringe use in mundane writing, such as the word unilateral, yet for the most part you want to avoid misusing lingo where it just doesn't fit.
