Rachel is often touted as a possible thief, so the interesting question is what would make her so desperate for a family heads favor that she would steal from a man she actively hates? What would make her desperate enough to trust him?

Well the assumption about the favours is not wrong, but don't forget during the group assignment Rachel didn't know much except bits and pieces about the founding families. And as such I would wager she either went down some conspiracy forums on the internet or is just imagining something she spun into a fanfic about a notorious partiachal cabal, feeding into her shallow ideals and/or repressed sexual fantasies.

I'm still on betting on the theory of Rachel stealing the book just to prod the MC or have him do some 'humiliating' stuff as she continuously projects her fears and desire onto the MC. I really think the whole who stole the book thing spirals out of control and people start following some red herrings that were initially unrealistic scenarios. (Following occam's razor here)

As interesting as speculation on who took the ticket book is, I think something that's too often overlooked is 'what for?'.

Rachel knows that the group knows the book was stolen. She was in the cafe when they were discussing it, and she almost certainly heard something. If she has it, I stand by my view that she's just as likely to hand it back for no favour (though she'd get some credibility with some of them), as it is that she knows who has it.

If the group decides to draw a real winner from the other tickets after the event, it's most probable that Annabelle or Catherine have the winning ticket. Neither of them are going to rock the boat. In terms of progression points without rocking the boat there's also Elizabeth ('help me take down my mother'), Alison (various), Akari (various), or even side characters like Samantha (FF groupie), Mira, or some previously unknown FF child wanting a date (Chloe is on the periphery of the FF, and Sarah's other, unnamed, sister, is the only other one coming to mind at the moment). There are some others who could cause issues with the ticket, but that's a discussion for another time.

Either way, the person who stole the book isn't all that important unless they don't ask for a favour when they return it. The 'nice' factor for that kind of behaviour would mean more to the story than outing someone as a thief, unless the aim here is to cast someone out.

Most people don't know how powerless MC actually is, like the guy who wanted MCs help getting a lawyer for his parents.

His vote is his real power.

exactly everybody jumping on Rachel as the thief couldn't answer the simple why. She has no reason.

I also dont think she has it because when it got stolen she was probably already hiding in the office. Far easier to get there unnoticed while the cafe is open then a break and entry into an already closed down cafe. Also you can hear the front door from the kitchen if the cafe isn't full of guests so we pretty much can rule it out that Rachel came back after closing time.

I dont think she hates him he might irritate her but she doesnt hate him. she has a problem with pretty much any boy. she might even be wary of him because Mika and her gang accused him of sexual harassment, hell now that i think about it that could be all it is, she simply wanted evidence for his misconduct.

Imho she doesnt want anything from him at least till after their clash in the office.

all we know about her points to that she has no motive period, not just yet. But if you have any clues from the game i'm open to hear them. But i dont see it even less with the meta knowledge we have about her from what Cosy told us.

Here is all Rachel said (in that interaction).

That is it (I got rid of all the stuff the MC and the other girls said). It appears she thought in her little mind that things were a certain way, and they weren't when she heard the interaction with Hannah. Thus she was wrong, but wanted to get her proof. Honestly, Rachel appears to me to be not the sharpest tool in the shed. As for if she stole it the booklet? I don't know. She might have. But as this went back to when V10 was released (or was it 9, I forget when this storyline occurred).

* Other girl in cafe - doubtful, they would be punished, and not speaking up before Hannah was punished is a bad move. This is pre-Catherine working, fyi.
* Annabelle - Possible, as she is there all day, and appears to want that favor. We don't know about her to know if she will steal.
* Rando we haven't been introduced to at this point - Might be someone who needs something, and is a possibility.

That's about it. At that point. We know some other things in the days since this happened:
* Catherine has stated what she wanted the MC to use her favor for (when she was caught with a limited amount of cash).
* No one claimed the ticket, as of yet, several days after the raffle finished.

Actually, Cosy mentioned he is unable to access F95 nor Subscribestar from his iPhone (blocked sites). So yeah - until his Internet comes back up, he is stuck on mobile (and a limited set of websites he can access).

I have same issues. I can do it on my mobile through WiFi but not phone network. Same country as Cosy.

Yes - but when your internet is down, you got no wifi, unless you go to someone else's house. It was past midnight, on a work night, when it went down, so he had to go to sleep. Unless he drove to a friends (again, after midnight), to use their wifi, in another city (large scale outage), it wasn't worth it. FYI - it was back up the next day, and this point is moot at this moment.

I've been doing another playthrough and I think apart from all the fucking my favorite part of the game is how OCD the MC is about cleanliness.

Cleanliness is just a part of running any kind of food related business which I'm sure his grandfather instilled in him when he was teaching him his trade .

I have thought that Rachel took it so that she can "prove" that the MC is abusing the girls. That was why she said "I-I thought that ... You, uhm... And them ... I was wrong, so I'll just go..." So in her mind, she was trying to instigate something, and felt guilty afterwards, as it didn't go down as she expected.

That is a take on it. I don't know if I am right or not. Thus there are other options which I presented. That would be the only motive I could find for Rachel taking it. If she took it to get the favor, why has she not turned it in yet? Yes she has been bugging the MC, and he has been brushing her off, but she can muster the courage to say I have the winning ticket (which she hasn't), so there must be something else at play.

How does a block of pre-printed paper help her archive her goal? The ticket book doesnt contain a piece of MCs soul it wont answer her if she writes questions into it. Granted if she wants the wish for unknowable reasons she gets a chance anywhere between 0-25% in one fell swoop but that is nothing i would build my plan on. Hell I wouldnt even let my characters in fire emblem make an attack like that if they can do literally anything else with their turn.

Lets make a hypothetical in which we know Rachel didnt steal the book and she won the favor through legal means.
How does the favor help her to prove that MC abuses the girls. She could demand that he tells her the truth while she records it.
MC would answer honestly with "I never abused any of them". The End

I think she snuck in to catch the MC red handed abusing the girls. Which didn't happen.

Yes she has been bugging the MC, and he has been brushing her off, but she can muster the courage to say I have the winning ticket (which she hasn't), so there must be something else at play.

Its pretty sure something in relation to her sexually repressed personality, because Rachel isnt shy to let every one know exactly what she thinks even if nobody is interested in hearing it. She never shuts up if she has something to say. So it has to be something embarrassing.

Since you cannot follow simple statements (like Rachel, you are applying your own bias to the words I am saying). I will spell it out for you. My theory from V.9 was IF Rachel took the book, this was likely her thought process:
Take book --> Get girl in trouble --> hide in office --> catch MC abuse (rape, assault, whatever) any girl --> take picture/video --> leave later --> go to police with the evidence --> MC goes to jail for life and the world is much safer for women.

I did not state she took the book to win anything (thus my comment about her not turning in the tickets since the event). I also have given several other alternate, and equally likely theories (for other possible suspects). Go back on this forum 6 months if you want to see them.

I personally know the answer. I am done answering questions on this topic, and will respond no more as I don't want to slip up and give spoilers.
