This dev is giving me braindrop vibes. Tells us one thing then pulls the old switcheroo. Make us wait 3-4 months for a promise of a bigger update then normal then last minute after so long of a delay announce the update is being split into 2 parts. It's obvious he wasn't 85% finished as he said a month ago. Just saying braindrop vibes.

If memory serves, the reason the dev went with the larger update schedule, was because before he had been doing several small updates, like once a month or so, only for a lot of people to complain that these small updates, weren't really adding anything of substance to the game, and it was starting to cause a lot of issues with his supporters. (Maybe some were quitting support? I dunno). Regardless, it transpired that the developer decided for various reasons, that it was better to do larger updates, even if it meant they'd go no contact for several months at a time, as this update schedule has produced better retention of users.

Im pretty sure you got that out of your wizard hat..
dev himself said on the itch,io post that he's never doing a big update ever again.

I was explaining what prompted the change. Having said that, it doesn't mean that we'll see the same "one paragraph, no scenes" updates going forward. It seems the idea of "well here's WHY he did this" was lost on you. I shall adjust my explanations to clarify that better in future.

I was annoyed about the small updates but not due to the size. I was annoyed about the incessant and, generally irrelevant, cliffhangers attached to those small updates.

How far off is the next update?

I'm not T2 EA so I do not have update, but it exists if someone does have it.

("...speaking of Part 2: It shouldn't take too long after Part 1 has been released to get it out, too, though I'm not giving any estimates for a release date yet." -VAVN)

Isn't this thread monitored by the dev himself? As far as I remember updates are posted here at the same day as for the tiers on Patreon.

This game was last updated July 27th and Vertigo was last online July 27th. It appears he only comes around to post updates. Going by his last comment here I doubt he'll be commenting again. Can't really say I blame him either even though I feel he took it a little bit too hard.

The shorter updates were never the problem that actually bother people! (they just didn't understand it and though the short updates bothered them) what was the issue is the constant pointless cliffhangers.
We'd designate a date with girl to discuss a specific topic only for it to be cancelled or we meet but due to "circumstances" don't get any of the info we were looking forward to or they tell us we don't have time to discuss it and just set another date. It's this narrative blue balling (coupled with actual blue balling sometimes) that pissed people off, but with they target being somewhat unclear they ended up pointing at the short updates (obviously if the updates weren't short it wouldn't be an issue to begin with as I imagine longer updates can't fit as many cliffhanger to begin with)

The shorter updates was a major problem for a lot of people.
Due to the Dev going from releasing roughly every 2-3 weeks originally with a little short on size update to increasing it to 5-6 weeks with an even smaller size update. Now it's been 5 months (public release is supposed to be tomorrow) and I know I'm not the only one not expecting a decently sized update for the timeframe. Everything else you said though is still other issues people have.

So are the saves broken for anyone? Mine don't load with the new update.

Can anyone provide a save prior to the latest update, 0.43.1 (up to the cliffhanger), that works?

so, before it was ~300 renders every month, now it's ~300 renders every 5 months? that's quite a fucking improvement
