Because its a waste of time, and sacrifices story for a fake "gameplay". I dont think clicking in a map/phone/whatever make it so much more gameplay than choosing an option, but sandbox games limits story because you cant link events, since you dont know the order they will be played.Genuine question, why do people dislike sandbox games so?
If dialogues clearly tell me what to do next, why make it a sandbox and not just make the game follow the story like a normal VN?Because it doesn't take hours and what you need to do is clearly stated in the dialogues. I hope this is the answer you want.
I've already written a story about why Linda lives with the MC but I haven't added it to the game yet. I thinked incest relationship, but later I changed my mind because I have better idea.i havent played this yet but
can anyone tell me whether this is just a covert incest game...
"mother and Roommate"
Uh everyone says something about the render brightness. Most likely my monitor's brightness settings are messed up. Thanks for the comment!I love noir and dark graphic novels but I literally cannot see some of these renders. There's not much point in that unless it is genuinely helping the storyline.
Otherwise this looks great. I'm not a fan of Sandbox but I'm willing to give this one a go.
Well mostly because not everyone does sandbox right. Most Devs have made it so that you have no clue what to do next and you're just clicking everywhere waiting for something to trigger. As if that wasn't enough here comes the repeated events thing where you keep doing the grind for getting the same scene "x" number of times . Some Devs just use it to mask actual low content by including grind and making it repeatable which increases the playtime significantly.Genuine question, why do people dislike sandbox games so?
You are very welcome Sco Darkhan and good luck to you with this.Uh everyone says something about the render brightness. Most likely my monitor's brightness settings are messed up. Thanks for the comment!
Ah, thanks for this motivational comment. Even though I'm a new game developer, I try to make a game with as few problems as possible. My only concern is not being able to convey the story I want to people.Good luck dev. Make the game how you want to make it. Don't mind all the whining about the sandbox. They are just burnt by too many bad ones and hoo boy there are some really terrible ones. But as long as you make it well, it shouldn't be an issue.
Yes the ones in the dark are too darkUh everyone says something about the render brightness. Most likely my monitor's brightness settings are messed up. Thanks for the comment!
Most of the sandbox games have no structure or quest system. most of the time, you are just left clicking on doors and people hoping for an event to trigger. Sometimes in some games the events even trigger out of order. Most of the sandbox games I've played are just pointless clicking simulators.Genuine question, why do people dislike sandbox games so?
I don't enjoy playing sandbox for hours either.
So these are the only things that we can 'bitch' about right now, these and the voyeurism scene at the gas station, which IMHO, was pointless, voyeurism scenes are always pointless and also make the MC look like a creep, recording the 'live performance' doesn't help either. I mean, who the fuck spies on others when they have sex ?? The rest looks sweet, the visuals are amazing. You might be right, I'll do brighter night renders.
None of them are new, and i would bet a lot of money that those sandbox games that are successful are despite of being sandbox and not thanks to it, and they would be successful as a normal VN.Renders look amazing.
Don't worry too much about the reactions to the sandbox tag. I get that many don't like sandbox games and I can see where they come from, nonetheless some of the most popular NSFW games are sandboxes. So if you have a good project and your coding is as good as your rendering skills, I'm thrilled to see what's coming next.
Good Luck!
