The demo is great the animations great, and if that reflects the finished product (when it is out) I would say this will be one of the best games of its kind.

Just one thing....please tell me that you won't do the spooky starlets promo a canon thing...(at least for me) it makes the whole deal of "protecting"(for those that are like me and prefer to play the game avoiding getting captured etc) the main character moot...I mean if she litteraly sold her self for money what's the point? one more dick(sorry for being crude) in an ocean of them makes no difference.
I'm going to try to be civil here. It's very VERY simple. Sex work is work. It does not matter if a person REGARDLESS of gender did sex work in the past. A person's value has nothing to do with if/how much sex they've had. And if you can't get that, then tbh, you probably shouldn't be on this site.

I think you misunderstood him, from what I understand he was against the fact she "sells herself for money" because it defeat the point of doing a virgin run, or at least trying to not get caught every time to see the H. I don't think he was saying sex workers are depraved people or anything.
That was my two cents tho, let's not start a fight over something that might not even exist.

Could you give me an overview of what happened at the base camp first and why Alicia had sex to open the red door?
I'm sorry? You don't have to have sex to open the red door, you just have to get the blaster upgrade from Birch. Like he says when you open the red doors, when he was installing the capture upgrade, he also upgraded your blaster's security protocols to allow you to open the red doors. He also issues the offer to let Alicia have sex with enemies for research while you're there getting that upgrade, but the two events are unrelated.

I appreciate the kind words, thank you! I'm sorry to hear that Alicia's sex work in the past is an issue for you, but it is canon and it won't be changing. Alicia is canonically not a virgin, not even close, and I'm very pro-sex work - especially considering I'm in that field myself, making a porn game, and I'm friends with (and have immense respect for) a great many people who work in this field. It won't be the only time Alicia's past sex life is brought up either.

If you ask me, there's plenty of reasons to play the game avoiding sex; Alicia is a soldier sent to the planet on a mission, and she takes pride in doing her job well, so fighting those sexual urges and focusing on her mission is very in character for her. There are also multiple points in the game where some dialogue changes based on if you've had lots of sex or mostly avoided it, so you do get occasional acknowledgement for avoiding sex. Canonically speaking though, the reason for that is not that she's "pure" or anything like that, just that she's a soldier and intent on focusing on her mission, if you choose to play it that way.

I understand why you feel the way you do, but I've never had any intention of Alicia being portrayed as a virgin or anything even close to it, so I'm afraid you just won't be able to find that experience in Crisis Point. There are plenty of games that do that, and I want our protagonist to instead be portrayed as a girl who actually has sex and enjoys it, rather than being a pure damsel.

You obviously misunderstood my meaning, nowhere in my post do I specify that a sex worker(or people that enjoy sex) has no or lesser value, but in this specific game the MC seems purturbed when the thought of sex comes into her mind, later on the game she repeatedly seems to be taking issue when people suggest to her that she simply gives in to her lust if she is feeling "hot"(by the plant girl's spores) and even gets visibly annoyed when the scientist suggests she has sex with the speciments she captures in order for him to science, that would be understandable if (always in case the promo is canon)she has not had already sex with other species and multiple other people/creatures she never met for a lesser reward such as money but not to help the scientist possibly find a cure for the whole colony.
(it's like seeing a butcher(or an ex-butcher) that gets squimish with blood)
Her initial reaction is what makes it appealing to me to actually try and make my playthrough "perfect"(meaning avoiding any and all chances for her to be raped or be forced to do something that she would rather not do,or as Ilverin said a "virgin run").

So I made a new save to see once again what her initial reaction was (and forgot to look at the Spooky Starlets thing before that so it is going to take a while until I see it again), but I would say, that there is a difference between taking part in porn and letting some random aliens on some random planet fuck you, even if it is in the name of science.

Alright, I think I see where part of the disconnect is. The dialogue you're talking about all happened specifically because you were avoiding sex; if you were having sex regularly, Alicia is either more relaxed about it, or she gets a bit embarassed but considers the idea. None of it is intended to portray her as uncomfortable with sex or unwilling to do it; instead, like I said in my last post, Alicia is a soldier and she takes her job seriously. It's not her being disgusted by sex, but rather shocked that her colleagues and fellow soldiers on the planet are so free and open about fucking the creatures on the planet, despite being "on the job". Even if you continue avoiding sex, though, Alicia gradually becomes less "irritable" about the situation as she grows accustomed to the reality of the planet and its effects on everyone's libido.

Don't forget that, aside from Alicia, everyone has been living with the effects of the planet's atmosphere for a while, and their inhibitions are relaxed because of it. Alicia only just landed, and at the beginning of the game she's had no time to come to terms with it, or to really feel the effects. In v0.39, which we just recently released for our $10+ patrons, there's actually a new conversation very early in the game (when you fight a slime for the first time) where Alicia makes a sexual comment about the slime creature without thinking, and realizes she's starting to feel the effects of the atmosphere. Maybe that scene would've helped bridge the gap of her behavior for you a little better, but that's WIP game development for ya.

Also, regarding the Spooky Starlets scene; maybe it's not entirely clear, but the scene in Crisis Point takes place with actors dressed up as aliens, not actual aliens. At the beginining of CPE, Alicia has never fucked an alien before, only other humans.

Oh, I see.
It was a blaster's problem that the door didn't open.
Sex is killing time!

Thank you so much.

(The following is (mostly) a copy-paste from our If you like what you see, )

Hey everyone! We got a packed update this week, and I won't waste time with preamble. Make sure you stick around until the end, there's some big news to announce!

Above_Water.gif

First off, this week we started working on the above-water Subaquatic Caverns background art. As you can see most of it is still flat color stuff right now; we're still tweaking colors and the final versions will be much more detailed, but I'm sure you'll agree it's already much more interesting to look at than the flat background of v0.39.

Geyser.gif

Next up, here's a quick shot of another mechanic coming in v0.40. Much like the underwater currents, these geysers will push Alicia in the direction they're facing if she steps into them while they're active; unlike the currents, these are on a timer, and it's possible that riding their waves won't always be advantageous.

That's all the visual stuff for this week, but I also want to touch on one big thing from v0.39, and that's the performance of the Subaquatic Caverns. The new area is mostly fine, but there's one extremely large room in the middle of the area, far bigger than any other room in Crisis Point, and the performance in that room is.. not the best. Decently powerful computers aren't struggling with it, but weaker machines have been getting some lag. For starters, I want to apologize for letting the update ship with that issue; a large amount of my work this week has been spent optimizing that area, and the results have been pretty good so far. On my machine, I've been able to roughly double the framerate, so hopefully the results will be similar on weaker hardware.

I still have some ideas for further optimizations, so I expect it to be even better by the time v0.40 comes out. If you've had performance issues in v0.39, please get in touch with me - I'd like to know what kind of hardware is having issues, and how bad the performance issues really are.

Alright, with all that out of the way, time for the most exciting part of this update!

As you may have noticed, our Patreon has been blowing up lately. We were stuck around the $4000s mark for the better part of 4 years, but recently our development has picked up speed considerably, and we're nearing $7000 now. I made a post two months ago acknowledging the increase in funding, but explaining that because of the state of the world and COVID-19, we would be temporarily holding off on hiring Orexius full-time. Well.. things have changed since then. Due to a combination of real life events, and the continued growth of our funding, we decided to switch gears a little sooner. Orexius recently handed in his resignation letter at his dayjob, and as of June 1st, he will be officially starting work on Crisis Point: Extinction full time!

This info does come with one caveat, though; one of the "real life events" I mentioned that changed our plans is that I'm going to be moving aaaaall the way across the country in July, and Orexius will be coming with me, so we can continue to work together in person. Even though he's going full time very soon, I don't expect our development pace to pick up much yet, because we're going to be extremely busy with the move. There's a lot to take care of, and with the extra travel complications due to COVID, it's going to be a really busy and stressful time for us. I want to inform you all of this now, before it starts affecting our output, so you can know what to expect; v0.40 and v0.41 may end up being a bit smaller than we'd like them to be due to the timing and overlap, but once we're done with the move, we'll be all set up with two full time team members and shit should start getting crazy real quick!

Alright, that's it for me for today. Thank you all for reading, and I hope you're as excited for the future of CPE as I am! See ya next week!

I really liked this game! Played it on the hardest difficulty and it was so fun!
I'd love it if there were a different ending based on what you guys previously talked about, if you had an x amount of sex you get a metroid-style ending with her getting gangbanged by different aliens, but if you remained alien-virgin you get an ending where she just has sex with regular people! Or something, idk.
Just wanted to draw parallels with metroid's samus in a bikini or samus in her full suit

Also, i really love that this game is the kind of game that you actually play because its fun rather than being horny or just wanting to rub one out. This and flying princess inter breed are the only games i found that are really good at this. Gotta love it :)
as a side note walljumps would be cool

Hey everyone! Sorry for skipping last week's update; we posted on Patreon, but there wasn't much worth talking about or showing off, it was a bit of a weird week. This week, though, we've got a great update, so let's get into it without preamble!

Above_Water.gif
First off, in the gif above, you can see the work we've done on the Subaquatic Caverns above-water background. I'm a huge fan of it personally, and I think it looks even better with the lighting engine enabled - unfortunately I can't record quality .gifs with the lighting on, since .gifs have very limited colors, but I did take a screenshot of the area with lighting on which you can see here:

Above_water_lighting.png

I really like the way the lighting works off of the background pillars, especially. We still have a bit of work to do with this above-water background, but it's getting close to complete now!

Hoverjets.gif
Next up, here's a shot of the new upgrade we're adding in v0.40 - the hoverjets! With the hoverjets upgrade, you can hold Jump in midair to majorly slow your descent and allow you to jump much farther than before. You can also hold the Action button to continue dashing indefinitely, but that only works when you start a dash from the ground - air dashes are still a limited distance only. You'll have to pay attention to the environment and find clever ways to cross large gaps using this upgrade, but proper usage will give you tremendous exploration potential!

Poison Alraune preview.gif
Lastly, the Poison Alraune H-scene preview! It's still a work in progress, so parts of it are incomplete and/or will be improved, but I hope you enjoy the preview nonetheless!

That's it for visual stuff this week! I did a lot of other work too; the level design for v0.40 is nearly complete already, the Torguis CG is basically done (just has some final artwork tweaks left to do) and is fully implemented in the game, I started implementing a handful more cutscenes and environment conversations in the Subaquatic Caverns, I'm still working on that secret tileset I mentioned last time, I fixed up some bugs, planned out a bunch of enemy H-scenes that weren't planned yet.. it's been a very busy and productive week for CPE! And starting tomorrow, Orexius will finally be done at his dayjob, and will be starting full time work on Crisis Point! Like I said before, don't expect things to change dramatically right away; there will definitely be an adjustment period and we have a lot of real-life stuff to prepare for, but even despite that, I fully expect our productivity to be much higher than it was before even while we're in the process of moving. Our full-time team is about to literally double, after all. Hope you're looking forward to it as much as I am!

Thank you all so much for supporting us, and getting us to the point where this is a reality. It's a literal dream come true for both me and Orexius, and I can't wait to see where we go from here. We'll see you in next week's update!

Would you believe me if I said I haven't played very far in Hollow Knight and I didn't actually know this resembled an upgrade from that game? lmao

Jesus how long has this game been going on for? 5 years? And nowhere near completion? Uff...
Yeah, it's certainly taken a lot longer than I would've liked! lmao

It's my first major game project and I let my ambitions get way ahead of what I was capable of at the time. Luckily, I've learned tons, and our development speed has increased a LOT ever since we finished reworking the old stuff. With our animator going full time as of today, we're gonna get it finished up in no time :)

A shame that is. I thought I didn't like metroidvanias as a kid because I kept getting stuck on metroid games as a bab. Played Hollow Knight though and I was sucked in. Turns out I just don't like the metroid part of metroidvanias, haha. Cool update though. The area does look really striking with the color palette.

I'm going to point out that Samus Returns (The 3DS remake of Metroid 2) took two years to develop, using an engine already written and use in similar games (It's the Mercury Engine, which was already used for Castlevania Mirror of Fate). So a powerhouse like Nintendo and an established dev team of MercurySteam took two years to make a game that was a remake. This taking five years so far, with all that we've seen and played, with constant updates from the dev? I'd say that while I do wish it was finished too, it's not a bad timeline in perspective.

Is this a bug specific to 0.37.1? After defeating the mud boss and going to the eastern door to meet the female aliens, if you leave the area before entering the door, it closes and the opening event doesn't seem to trigger again, making you stuck outside. I just loaded my most recent save to get around it, but it might be worth mentioning here.
