Thanks for the reports on the map issue, I'm not sure what's causing that and I haven't ever seen it on my own game, but I'll try and see if i can figure it out.

As far as the controls go, the issue of melee and dash being on the same button happened because the control scheme for the game changed in v0.41, separating dash and melee onto their own buttons (as well as some other changes), but you had already played an older version of the game and thus already had a saved button layout. Fixing it is as simple as either setting the controls to the new default (I could've done this automatically, but didn't want to screw over people who already had a customized layout), or just customizing the controls and moving either Melee or Dash onto a new button.
You're welcome and, I'm not sure either. It's been an issue since an earlier version, I've played. Mostly occurring from a teleport, or randomly, when moving between "rooms".

Yeah, I figured. Though the previous layout was only the default. Regardless, that's not a main issue.

What I showed, attached, is not the bug at its worst. Sometimes, it will fill the map grid, with a quadruplication.

I am stuck in the Jungle area, there are 3 paths all blocked by unbrakeable tough vines and no other way to progress. I have killed the Poison alurune already, but the vine paths those areas lead to just lead to more doors block by unb Screenshot 2020-12-18 033553.png rakable vines.

Figured it out, my dash and melee button are where the same button so I thought the only way to dash was to melee first, then dash which made certain jumps impossible.

I can't get past the indestructible vines on the other side. Any tips?
It's the basic principle of Metroidvanias: If you can't get past a certain point or barrier in the game, it's most likely because you don't have the required weapon/skill/item/whatever... so backtrack to search for those.

When exploring always keep a mental note of other branches and areas that you didn't explore yet, then go there and look for the upgrades. You can also double check the map to see which rooms or pathways you haven't entered yet.

Also, don't forget that in the map screen you can also leave notes for yourself for any time you need to backtrack to get something you couldn't reach before. That way if you stop playing for a few days, you don't have to worry about forgetting exactly where to look or what you might need to get to the item.

Not every Metroidvania I've played has that, but Crisis Point does and I've found that to be very useful with every restart I've done due to updates.

I've never used that function myself, since my map keeps experiencing fragmentation.

So memory and exploration, are my friends here. '3

(The following is (mostly) a copy-paste from our If you like what you see, )

sawblade.gif
Hey everyone. There's not too much to talk about this week, but I do have some more personal thoughts at the end of the post if you care to read through. First, though, the development update itself: as you can see by the animation up above, I started work on some new blaster types, as well as continuing the writing work I mentioned last week.

There's not much to say about the writing, but I'll detail the gif above! The blaster chip in the clip above is the Sawblade Shot; it fires a small projectile that bursts into a rapidly-spinning sawblade when it collides with an enemy or a wall. The damage it deals is on the lower end of the spectrum, but the rapid hits make it extremely effective at generating Force Shot ammo, which more than makes up for the low damage. The visuals are still very incomplete, so it should look a bit fancier when v0.43 is in your hands.

Aside from that, I also spent some time this week gathering up a list of sound effects that are missing in Crisis Point; I'll be sending the list off to our sound effects guy as soon as it's ready, so hopefully v0.43 will have a lot of missing sounds filled in, like the Crystal Dragon and Boss 3 sound effects.

Lastly, before the update ends, I want to share some thoughts, considering this will be the last weekly update of 2020. It's nothing new to state that this was an incredibly difficult year, I'm sure you've heard it a million times before from other people - I was personally hoping Crisis Point would be further along by now than it is, but between covid, my own struggles with depression/mental issues, moving across the country, and difficulties adjusting to the shift in work dynamic that comes from hiring on a new employee, things didn't quite go as far as I wanted them to.

I don't think it's right to apologize for that, though. Our progress may not have been as great as I wanted, but we still did a lot of great work this year! For the first time in a while, we managed to mostly stick to our release schedule; v0.41 was a bit late due to the move, but v0.40 had an even faster turnaround time than usual, with only 1.5 months in development. The end result is that we had a solid amount of playable updates this year, and made lots of progress towards completing the game. Crisis Point's story (and content as a whole) is coming together quickly, and I expect it to only speed up from here as we gradually approach the finish line.

Despite 2020 not signaling as much progress as I hoped, Crisis Point is in a better, and more consistent place, than ever before. We're still a ways away from the game being done, but we have an internal roadmap detailing what needs to be done before the game is complete (and to keep scope creep in check), and things are most definitely looking up. Above everything else, we have all of you, our Patrons and followers alike, to thank for where Crisis Point is today; looking back on the game's early days compared to now is truly striking. The game might be done by now if we had kept all those early assets, but it certainly wouldn't be anywhere near the level of quality it's at today, and it wouldn't be the quality you all deserve. I can't thank you enough for giving us the opportunity to really make something fantastic.

2020 was an awful year for everyone, but you all have taken an immeasurable weight off my shoulders by keeping a roof over our heads and food on our plates. Thank you so much for sticking with us, for supporting and believing in us, and for letting us take the time to make Crisis Point as good as it can possibly be. I hope your holidays were a bright spot in this overwhelming year, and that things continue to look up from here! We'll see you on the other side, friends, in 2021!

I haven't checked all the previous pages of this thread, so maybe it has already been done, but I've made a little map of the upgrades I've found so far. Let me be clear, it is potentially unfinished and missing some items that I may not have found yet, but I think it may come in handy for someone who has doubts about their exploration of the map. The version at the base of which I made the map is 0.41 (while the map itself, I found it on the site of the author of the game, so there are areas that, for now, are different / missing). I hope it will help and, if so, feel free to expand or correct it.

Well it's missing the fifth, underwater level but it's a good layout for the rest of the levels.

Though, it may become obsolete, if stuff is moved around significantly, or things are added, or removed.

Great idea though.

I won't get into specifics, but, you definitely missed a fair amount of items :p At least one of the gun upgrades is a little bit misplaced too, off by a room. The porn CD is also no longer in the game as of v0.42. Plus what Temp3h said about the last area in the game being missing; the map you used for that is a bit outdated by now.

This would be great if the cum stayed on her after getting fucked/etc. while she's running around
As much as I'd love to implement that, it's unfortunately unfeasible for us. Since everything in the game is hand-animated, that would mean every one of Alicia's animations needs a unique cum layer (or multiple unique cum layers, if we wanted to have different types of cum applied to Alicia based on the animation that happened), which could easily amount to hundreds of new frames of animation. Unfortunately we just don't have time for that, sorry

Thanks for the comments, later I'll do some backtraking trying to get what I left behind. About the upgrade I misplaced, could you be more specific? Unfortunately, having collected them, I no longer have the possibility to check their exact location without having to do another run, at least I will be able to correct the error.
