Yes, the similar rpg maker games is what I meant; sry for not making that clear. And the test file does work for me.

However, I noticed that after trying to open CiC, the other rpg maker games won't load until I shut down the PC and try again without opening CiC.so I am almost certain there is something wrong with one of the files within the game. The other person who had the same issue as me also makes me think there is nothing wrong with my PC
Yeah, as long as other games work while CiC doesn't, it's almost certainly an issue with CiC itself. The fact that you can't open other RPG Maker games after trying to open CiC makes it very likely that CiC is starting to some degree. You can't open two RPG Maker games at once, so CiC is probably running in the background, preventing other games from opening. (You could probably fix this by closing the process in task manager, rather than turning your entire computer off.) I will once again request you check for the game in task manager after you try and open it.

Also, this means if you try running the game and it doesn't work, then try one of the solutions and try running it again, it will never work unless you close the game with task manager or restart your computer first, because the game is technically still open. So because of that, you may want to retry the previous suggestions of moving the game to your desktop before running and running as administrator after ensuring the game has been fully closed.

I've found reports of a similar issue that was caused by some sort of bug occurring with multiple monitors. If you have multiple monitors, the solution was apparently to unplug all but your main monitor, and then run the game, so you could try that.

Additionally, after you try and start it if you press alt + tab and then hold alt, is there a window for CiC open somewhere? It would probably be on your taskbar if this was going to work, but it was suggested to try.

If those don't work, the most likely culprit is that it's a plugin issue. Unfortunately, this is also the biggest headache to troubleshoot, as my game has over 100 plugins, and there is no error message to go off of. The only somewhat reliable guess I have is that it's a recent addition, since I believe this is the first time anyone has reported this issue. So I've made a patch to turn off some recently added plugins.

Please try the patch after the other two possible solutions above. Even if the patch works, you'll end up playing a version of the game with several plugins turned off, which will be bound to cause issues. I'll have to mess around and figure out what plugin in particular causes the issue.

I haven't tried the patch yet, but I tried the task manager and alt tab suggestions and they still don't work again (CiC doesnt show up for alt tab).
I don't use multiple monitors so I'm afraid that won't work.
I will try the patch later when I have time.
Edit: I also did the desktop suggestion again

Just to double check, when you say task manager didn't work, does that mean the game didn't show up in task manager, or that closing it in task manager didn't help? (It would show up as "game (32 bit)", not CiC.)

The latter. Also I'm afraid the patch didn't work.
Well, fuck. That means that if it is a plugin causing the issue as I suspect, there is absolutely no way to guess what plugin that is. I would have to randomly disable plugins until the game works again, then re-enable them until it breaks to try and figure it out. And since I can't replicate the issue, I'd have to be doing this through you, making you download the game over and over again until we figured it out.

Two other shots in the dark for potential issues. I don't really think these will work since it doesn't explain why my game won't run and others will, but I might as well give you the option to try. 1. It could be a firewall or antivirus issue. You can test this by whitelisting the game or temporarily disabling your antivirus and running the game again. 2. Your graphics card drivers aren't up to date, or maybe the specific version of your drivers have an issue. You could test that by updating your drivers for the first issue or installing an older version for the second. Same issue here though, doesn't explain why my game doesn't work unless it's some sort of visual plugin causing the issue.

Lastly, you could try to run the web version of the game instead. You may need to configure your browser to allow it to run, this link explains how. (I recommend Firefox, I personally could never get Chrome to work.) It comes with some minor issues, mainly in that your player model will not change based on your clothing or skin color.

Sorry I couldn't help fix the issue. I'm honestly stumped. It's a new issue, but getting rid of new plugins doesn't work, and yet it's specifically for my game??? I don't get it.

No problem. I appreciate you replying at all. I think I will just wait for the next update and hope it somehow gets fixed. Unless its possible to transfer the saves between versions? I don't wanna start my progress all over just yet lol. I subscribed on Patreon once for one update a couple of months ago, but I will be sure to subscribe for another version once the issue gets resolved. Thanks again for the help.

It is very possible to transfer saves between versions, but I only know for sure how that is done on any version but the web version. I believe on the web version your save will be in your browsers temp files, so as long as those don't get deleted by you clearing cookies or something, they will load automatically when playing a newer version in browser.. However, it sounds like you are saying a previous version of the game worked? Because that kind of changes everything here, if you let me know what version, I can just look at what has changed plugin-wise between those two versions, and that makes finding the problem a lot easier. Do you still have the version that worked? And actually, can you run that version of the game again, just to make sure? As for moving saves for non-web versions, you just move the save folder into the new version of the game.

It was either .55 or .54 I wanna say .55 tho. I unfortunately don't have it anymore tho.
Edit: would downloading a compressed. .55 from here help? I'm not sure if that would affect the plug ins.
