If you want 15-16 GB put together in ONE chapter -> good luck downloading it.
There's a reason why we made it cut into 4 chapters.
(EDIT: see some threads below -> it's also better for refactoring the code. You don't need to go through 100.000+ lines of code again just because you changed something in your variable-using etc. The change of coding and the way you code, same as the actual version of RenPy being incompatible to older versions during the past 5 years, are also a huge reason for splitting into different chapters)

I'm one of the people that doesn't care about the size of a download, I regularly download 30+ GB games, so I think that it should at least be an option to download it as a single game, while keeping the option to download it as separate chapters as well, that way everyone is happy, and no one complains (at least not about that).

It's a good idea and I agree, except the fact that people don't really need a reason to complain or whine.... They just do it regardless, trust me..

Since part 1 is 5 years old, and renPy had changed several times since then - also the coding and values changed/envolved since then, it's more or less impossible to "just add" all parts together.
It would be a complete code-overhaul - and i assure you that MrDots will not do that. He more likely will focus on SL and after that on another new game rather than re-coding DMD.

True, you're right I forget there's was a modification, and honestly since we are near the end, it's better to start thinking to the new project, as well as finishing Sl.

It's the same with people still using a 32bit OS... If you can pirate a porn games you can pirate windows...
EDIT: Yeah I forgot about the Ren'py version changes that affect code...

not only RenPy has changed - also MrDots "way of coding". He made his first steps with DMD at start, and of course theres a huge change in coding even aside RenPy (style of coding, variables usage ... and so on)

I don't think it's that bad that we won't get a combined version.
It would have been nice but definitely not a must.
Is the "rework/remaster" of the single chapters still on the table or has hat been abandoned?

rework (afaik) is still on table - definitively for chapter 4 (scenes "what would have happened if ...?").

Chapter 4 will DEFINITIVELY be the last one.
Aside upcomming update, there will be 2 (MAYBE 3) more updates for regular game.
This update will close the arc with Martin and some more other content (probably end Tyria/modeling stuff).
After that another update will be with even more arcs closed (side characters).
And the final one will full focus on the different Dad-Daughter endings (meaning: career?, pregnancy?, wedding(s)?, future?)
Note:
Maybe there will be 3 updates, but only if the mentionned content will not match into 2.
Finally, there will be one more update AFTER the game is finished, which we call the "What would have happened if ..." update, which will provide scenes that didn't make it into the game for several reason (like not matching the story-plot)
