Each one of those need to be addressed before the end of chapter 2 - and my idea of a few post Ch2 fan chapters has yet to be accepted or refused by the MDots team
- there is no time for another separation- and there is too much pending drama from the above to warrant it
Ah, so there is still a lingering hope of post-Chapter 2 progress, it seems. Nice to read.
As you might recall from prior discussions here, I was hoping things would get both romantically heavy and improbably stressful for D in the latter half of the second chapter, so that the original thought of a third chapter could show her struggle - and gained support - to mature in a "natural" way: working with the flow of life and making your own way from decisions good and bad, not necessarily conquering things and leaving problems behind. That could allow for unexpected happenings which cause players to revisit their prior expectations and biases, such as . . . something which reveals an advantageous detente with D's mother from an angle which brings out far more sympathy about her actions and manipulations than we all suspected. (Or, maybe I got such a thrill from the multi-homed nature of playing "I Love Daddy" recently that the idea of turning one's feelings on their side for a character's situation has felt really attractive to me, since?)
My worry about the second chapter being all we have has been that this would be greatly abbreviated and her journey (with MC, etc.) would be more about overcoming adversity through the realization of what is most important in her life . . . but in a limited, idealistic manner which helps to resolve much by the end. A fairy tale! But, if that was the goal all along, then OK ...
I'd actually be fine with chapter 2 ending with lots of messy possibilities (and clues strewn backwards to help us divine what might be likely - or, at least debate it) instead of everything being neatly wrapped up. End on some positive notes, but lots of life being recognized as ahead of her/them.
