So, just to pass some time, a mini-discussion about "which game is better" recently popped up in the Melody thread and I offered that DMD is more like a fantasy tale - where the sheltered princess (from a manipulative+evil queen/mother/witch persona) is pulled to the larger world by her would-be prince, after which she slowly comes to realize that her life choices could possibly be her own - while Melody is more a slice-of-life, adult drama that has self-driven characters based in a contemporary society.

To me, they are purposefully different games and even purposes, with DMD being far more about the building revelations and romantic excitement as D learns that her life can be more free to experience than she was let on to understand for her entire life until now ...and Melody is a tale of how different lives can intersect and complement and/or impede each other as we follow one woman's growth path towards potential lifestyle independence.

But, I'm guessing this has already been hashed out here, though Search didn't really help me on these specific points yet. Curious about the perspectives of others here, of course.
Very nice input. I was not involved with DMD in the beginning, but it does have the quality you speak of (take Roman Holiday and other movies). Obviously, as the VN progressed D has been “growing up” and that is a goal of mine to keep the character progressing towards further character growth.

I was on Melody from the beginning and it structured more as two semi-broken character finding each other and growing into a relationship (though, personally, I keep, pushing for the story and characters to be a bit darker and edgy - but this is a project by consensus with the final call by MDots and Hearsz).

Quick FYI. If you're encountering this error when saving a game:

Code:
I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

While running game code:
File "game/screens.rpy", line 282, in __call__
File "renpy/common/00action_file.rpy", line 372, in __call__
    renpy.save(fn, extra_info=save_name)
RuntimeError: maximum recursion depth exceeded while pickling an object
While it needs a proper fix, you can temporary solve this by typing this in the console:
sys.setrecursionlimit(2000)

or make an empty file in \DMD.CH2-0.20-pc\game\ , name it whatever (but add .rpy as a fileextension) and in a texteditor type in:
init 1:
python hide:
sys.setrecursionlimit(2000)

..You just need any value over the default, 1000.
This should help you save your game properly for now.

If this have already been mention, sorry for spamming. But not reading this thread yet due to potential spoilers.

Enjoy what seems like a really good DMD-release so far :giggle:

No native english speaker uses the word "eventuate"
Oh, yes they do. Hearsz is from either Australia or New a Zealand and he uses a term every so often that I have to look up, and then discover it is a regional term. Being from a California, I find he’s pretty clutch on a deadline, and he doesn’t claim it, so I’m not going to call it out or get butthurt over it.
