KFC became immensely popular with a "secret" ingredient. They never invented fried chicken. DMD, with no obvious new inventions, has by far the best visuals in their genre in recent history; D, although being physically a highly replicated model, is by far the most popular such model. Physically, she is best; her personality is much the best.

The dev-team of DMD has greatly improved the "recipe" to the point that DMD's popularity is unmatched.

Attempts are being made by other devs to match DMD's success, which is completely to be expected.

I have serious reservations about DMD in other areas but those observations can wait.

While I agree that the D in this game is the best iteration of that model, Dreams of Desire has the best visuals hands down. The level of detail is unmatched.

Dreams of Desire does have gorgeous visuals especially for Tracy mom and aunt, but the daughter in DMD has a very realistic skin which I think was reused actually to skin Georgina. It's a freckled skin which is very very photorealistic. I think that's one of the things that sets her apart; the women in dreams of Desire have nice figures and very high resolution but their skin is not as realistic.

BTW I was planning in trying to build a game based on renpy myself given I am jobless, I am not a computer scientist but renpy system looks easy to handle, do you think I can do good $$ if the game is as good as DMD?

You're right! I totally forgot about that! Still, D is going to have to sneak into her Dad's room to fuck, either that, or Dad is going to have to visit Daughter's room. And fuck! What if Daughter & Elena share a room?

I could maybe see how that might work out: Elena catches Daughter sneaking out, she listens and watches while they fuck, gets turned on herself, starts frigging herself in the hallway, then somehow someone talks about the elephant in the room, Elena says she's cool with it or maybe blackmails the Dad into letting her in on the relationship?

Father and daughter living together with a 3rd person is a total nonsense if they intend to maintain and even develop their special relationship.

Agreed. I've noticed some hate for it though because of the slow burn of it, but that just means it is more story driven than anything else, which I like. I'm actually invested in the characters. If I wanted just plain old smut, I'd go to another place.

IIRC Key' (Officer Chloe) and Fleeting Iris (Alansya Chronicles) are friends and announced a brief cameo of Chloe in the other game. They aren't a true crossover, especially because they have completely different art styles (3D vs 2D) but it's been done. In a similar vein, The Dark Lord's Trip includes appearances from several of Akabur's characters (the plot actually relies on this) and includes a surprise appearance from Tara of Tara's Adventures.

I have yet to see a true crossover that is canon in both stories however.

If you played the old hentai games 'Three Sisters' Story', 'Runaway City', and 'Season Of The Sakura' (If I remember it well) you should have found that characters and events from one game could be seen from another perspective in the other game.

Visuals are more about lighting and realistic graphics than detail. That first impression trumps all else.

Dreams of Desire may well have better artwork. But I prefer the brighter lighting of DMD. Also the story and characters of DoD are meh. The magnificient D is the "magic" magnet that so attracts so many.

There is a caring relationship in DMD and an innocence that Daddy wants to protect as well as love and natural sexual lust that is building between them.
