It's funny that I got several responses of people trying to be helpful, but no actual feedback.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also, this is the scene.

I think they were saying "the image looks flat and needs highlights to add depth" in as nice of a way as possible. At least that's what I think about it. Although I have to say you did a great job of getting a dark image like that without it being grainy.

That's the sort of thing I was more looking for. The problem is that almost every solution involves adding lights I don't have. All the given examples have very obvious lights. Theoretically, I have no lights, even the one I'm using is cheaty. I'll see if I can work with it. I think this will be less a problem when I move away from the window, as I can use the window as a light source even if I have to ramp it up a bit.

Hence everybody here is currently dabbeling into low light scenes and I have two new pro bundles to toy around with. Here is my contribution.

I've played mainly with dForce on this one.
The key light is provided by an emissive light while the Fill Lights are provided by an HDRI and a few scene lights.
For the postwork I had not the time I wanted to have, so the handdrawn shadows on the couch become somewhat sloppy :p

very cool seeing this thread, sadly not had anywhere near the amount of time to learn how to make my own poses and bunch of other stuff in daz studio, but will certainly keep an eye on this thread.

I can share this link though, its a demo system for avatars in a non adult game, I made this in daz 3d images I rendered/made.

fyi not finished game.

Did . . . did you have to render all those individually? So many options.

Maybe a Batchrenderer would be smth for you. So you could focus on Design, and after all is done, you could render all at once.
