I call bs on that. Throughout history, knowledge has been freely shared simply because people wanted better for their neighbors. An exchange of info helped to make villages, tribes and cities thrive for the betterment of a region. Selfishness and laziness brought about raids, slavery, murder-for-hire and other societal woes which, btw, brought about the need for borders and laws, soldiers and police. There's no idiocy in someone wanting to help someone else for the sake of doing so. The idiocy is in expecting to get paid every time you think that you have an advantage. That kind of thinking leads to envy, followed by the commission of crimes.
